Y/N
"Y-you were a-abused?"
"By my own father," Tae admitted, his voice as low as mine. "I didn't even have a mother who would get in between to save me. He abused me in ever sense possible, until Mr.Jeon saved me. And of course, Jungkook."
"I'm so sorry." I had nothing else to say.
"And Jimin" Tae said instead, his eyes fixed on me."He got orphaned just after his little brother was born. Imagine a seven year old boy begging on the streets, with some other children, doing everything his tiny self can, only so he could feed the other children and his little brother. At the end of the day he would sleep starving feeding others." I wiped away the tears with the back of my hand, but they kept coming relentlessly. My heart ached for Tae, for Jimin, for Jungkook. They were good people to whom bad things had happened to unjustly.
"I know you judge us for who we were, and I don't blame you," Tae shook his head. "But remember this, we did not pick up being a criminal as a career. We all wanted to go to college, get a degree and pursue a job we wanted. But for that, you need normalcy. That's just what we never had. If it had been once or twice, I would've forgotten about it. But not every night, Y/n. You don't forget things like that. Some scars, though not visible, hurt the most."
"I'm sorry I judged you," I looked at Tae, ruffling his hair slightly. He smiled, and for a tiny second, resembled the hungry panda he always was during the day.
"Though I never thought ill about the three of you. In some twisted manner, I understand why you did what you did." Tae closed his eyes, while I continued to play with his hair soothingly. "I'm not a bad person. None of us are."
"I wouldn't be too sure of myself," I chuckled. "My thoughts are too impure to land me in heaven." Tae finally let out a small laugh, one that sounded genuine and real. "You're an angel, Y/n," he winked at me. "A very sexy one." I gasped dramatically and slapped the back of his head. "And here! thought I was bonding like a sister to you!" Tae laughed harder, and I found myself smiling at the sound of it. He brought his legs up and the next second, was resting his head on my lap, hands tucked under it like a pillow.
"Do you mind?" he yawned. I wouldn't say no even if I could. "Sleep tight and don't try any stupid tricks or I'll have Jungkook whoop your ass red."
"Oooh, someone's kink-ayyy," Tae sang in a sing song voice. I tugged at his hair playfully. "Just go to sleep Tae." He smiled before closing his eyes. "As you say, sis." Then after a second, he yawned again and said, "Thank you."
I laid my head back against the couch, my heart heavy and light at the same time. I had come to such a mature stage in my life, I had no idea of how to deal with these new, mature emotions. It was difficult to choose which ones to act on, and which on ones ignore.
Especially when all of them jumbled up to make me feel only one thing - love.
"Y/n?"
I blinked from my light sleep, turning my head to see Jungkook climbing down the stairs. He'd finally woken up. "Shh, Tae's sleeping." With furrowed eyebrows, Jungkook walked around the couch and stopped on seeing Tae fast asleep while using my lap as a pillow. "Did he have a nightmare?" Jungkook asked me straightaway. I nodded, patting the space next to me for him to sit on.
He groggily followed, plopping down on the couch. "Were you crying?" he asked again. I sniffed tiredly, looking at Jungkook. "Tae told me about his childhood. And Jimin's." Jungkook reached out to wipe the next tear that rolled down my cheek. "I know what you're feeling," he whispered. "I've cried for them too."
