Nightfall came and Nayeon never came back to the village. Mr. Yoo volunteered to search for her, bringing a torch and an axe with him.
"Mr. Yoo, I could accompany you if you'd like," Momo's father volunteered.
"It's okay, Mr. Hirai. I can handle this. Take care of your family," Mr. Yoo responded, looking ahead.
As the four girls watched Mr. Yoo disappear into the forest, they felt a creeping fear slither into their minds.
"...I wonder where she is," Momo questioned.
"There's a small cabin that we used to play in as children. She used to go there a lot to clear her mind, so that must be where she is," Jihyo answered.
Mina and Dahyun sighed simultaneously.
"Hopefully she is there," Mina said with a worrisome tone.
Everyone went back into their respective rooms, awaiting for Nayeon and Mr. Yoo's return.
"I'm going to go talk with my family, Mina. Would you like to join me?" Momo asked, carefully getting up.
"Of course, Momo. I would love to properly introduce myself," Mina chuckled, helping Momo with her crutches.
The princess and her lover made their way into the room across from theirs, knocking on the door.
"Come in!" Yelled a woman's voice.
In came the couple, their faces scoring beautiful smiles.
"Good evening, your highness," bowed Momo's mother. "It's an honor to meet you face to face."
"Please, it's my pleasure to meet all of you. Momo has been helpful and caring all this time, and to meet her family is a blessing to me."
"You're too kind, your highness," Mr. Hirai chuckled.
"Say... how long have you known each other?" Momo's sister questioned.
Momo's face became red, but answered for them both. "W-Well... we met when I was nine... sorry, Hana."
"You kept your relationship with the princess for ten years?!" Hana exclaimed.
Mina giggled awkwardly, realizing how long it really had been.
"How did this happen? Surely you two never met during the day...?" Mrs. Hirai questioned.
The two girls shamefully looked down.
"Yeah, we always... snuck out during the night," Momo sighed. "And, that's how we ended up in this situation. I'm sorry."
"No, Momo, please. This isn't your fault—"
Momo clutched the clothing over her heart, tears running down her face. "I've caused you a lot of pain, Mina. I've caused everyone else pain... Jeongyeon would've still..."
Mina watched as Momo broke down, hugging her close. "Momo, I understand that it's painful, but things happen for a reason. All of us are going to get through this, please don't overthink."
