Arriving at the apartment complex after my shift, I head to nana's apartment to fetch my boys. My plan is spend a few minutes with nana before taking them home. I am emotionally exhausted after this shift, and I am more than ready to unwind and be with my family. Entering the building with a heavy sigh, I walk to nana's door, where I knock, excited to see my boys. Nana opens the door about thirty seconds later with Andrew standing in front of her as she holds Addison on her left hip.
"Papa!" Andrew cheers as he jumps into my body when I squat down in front of him with a huge smile.
"Hi Andy, did you have fun with nana and Addy?" I question as I stand with him on my right hip, and I kiss him on his chubby cheek; I know Addy will be on my left hip here in a second.
"Good, papa!" Andy replies as he places his left thumb in his mouth to suck on it as he lies his head on my shoulder.
"Awesome!" I cheer lightly with a smile, as I focus my attention on Addison. "How was your day, Addy?"
He leans toward me with his arms outstretched, so I take him, and settle him on my left hip with a kiss on his chubby cheek as he replies; "Goo, pa!"
He lies his head on my shoulder to suck his left thumb, too, and I can't help the fond smile as I kiss both boys on the tops of their heads. Stepping into the apartment, I ask nana if they were good, and she tells me they were.
"How was work, Adrian, you look tired?" nana asks as I settle myself and the boys on the floor to play with them for a few minutes.
"Exhausting, very exhausting," I reply with a weary smile. "I had a 6-year-old girl call this moring for her dad, who was having a heart attack. She did very well for her age, but it is sad that she had to witness that, and that he was ill."
Nana nods in agreement with a pout; "That is sad, and hopefully the man will be alright, along with his daughter."
Nodding in agreement with her, I smile at my boys as we build a tower with their colorful blocks. Yawning loudly behind my left hand, I am positive that I will be in bed early tonight. The boys are in their beds and aslee by 8 p.m., and I will be in bed asleep by 9 p.m.
"Do you want to stay for dinner, Ad?" nana asks as I yawn again with my eyes watering.
"No thanks, nana," I reply with a kind smile. "We're gonna head home in a few minutes to have chicken nuggets with calliflower mac-n-cheese, and applesause."
"Yeah!" Andrew cheers, fist bumping there air - a gesture he learned from my best friend, Blaze Eastland.
Blake and I have been friends since the seventh grade, so for ten years now. He is also the boys' godfather and guardian in case Vince and I die before they turn 18-years-old.
"How about we cook you dinner tomorrow night since tomorrow is Friday?" I ask hopefully.
"I'll be there with bells on!" she grins with a light chuckle. "I'm also bringing an apple pie for dessert."
"Nana, you don't need to bring anything but yourself," I try to argue, but I know it's pointless to truly try and argue with her once she has decided on something.
She gives me that 'don't argue with me' look, so I hold my hands up in surrender as she firmly says; "Adrian, I am bringing an apple pie, and that's final. What time should I be at yours for dinner?"
"Um, whenever works for you," I say with a small shrug.
"I'll be there at 5:30 p.m. then," she states, and I nod in agreement.
"Alright boys, let's clean up your toys, so we can go home," I tell them a few minutes later, and I help them do this since they're little. and then we head out to our apartment.
Miles' P.O.V.
"Hey daddy," I greet as I let myself into their home after knocking on the front door; I'm here to have dinner with daddy, papa, and my little brother Mylo.
"Hey Miles, how as your day off?" daddy asks as we hug.
"It was good, a little weird but good," I reply with a weak smile as I think about Adrian from papa's work.
Daddy quirks his right eyebrow at me as if he doesn't know what I'm talking about, but I'm sure papa has told him what happened at lunch with Adrian. Before daddy can question me, Mylo, my 16-year-old brother enters the living room with our papa.
"Hey little brother, how was school?" I question with a broad smile at him as we hug tightly.
"It was awesome! I landed the lead male role in the upcoming play of 'Romeo and Juliet'!" he cheerfully tells me with a tiny bounce.
"Nice job, My! When is the play?" I ask with a smile, I have never missed a play he has been in.
"I'm not sure yet on the exact dates, but it will be in two months," he grins as we pull away, and he goes to sit on the recliner to play a video game.
"Okay, make sure you tell me when you find out, so I can make sure I'm off work on opening night," I tell him as I notice daddy and papa looking at me weird.
"What's wrong with you two?" I ask them with a frown.
"So, what did you think of Adrian?" papa asks with a weird smile as he goes to sit on daddy's lap.
"He seems like a nice person, a little guarded perhaps, but nice," I honestly answer, still unsure as to why he is asking me this. "Why are you asking?"
"Well, I was thinking I could invite him and his boys over for dinner the next night you have off," papa answers, and I am hoping he is not thinking of doing what I am thinking he is thinking of doing.
"No papa, I don't want you to play matchmaker with him or anyone else," I firmly state with a frown. "Especially after our stunned silence at lunc today in regards to his announcement of being a male carrier like you."
Papa pouts at me as daddy and Mylo stare at us in shock with daddy firmly asking; "Why would you guys react that way knowing Andrew is a male carrier, too?"
"Male carriers are rare, and it was a surprise to find another one," papa honestly answers in a small voice.
"You two probaboy made him feel self-conciouse about this, which is never good," daddy says with a frown and a shake of his head, ramping up my guilt, and I'm sure papa feels the same as me.
"Invite them for dinner, but no trying to hook us up, papa," I sigh, hoping this doesn't backfire in my face.
