"Vincero!"

The final note exclaimed itself out of my mouth. It felt like an eternity, and I wanted to drag my ass back home.

Before I could, however, a voice spoke out.

"That's good, Asher. But I need a little bit more vibrato, it sounded a bit too robotic, especially the second last note."

With a sigh, I nodded toward my conductor and this went on for about 30 more minutes before she decided to wrap up the training as it already reached 3 pm. I shouted thanks to my conductor before heading to the room beside the opera training room, which was the choir room.

"Hey, Ash!" My heart skipped a beat as I turned around to see a person I expected to see. "H-hey, Naomi. I thought you were in the choir room?"

Naomi is partly Scottish, it's the reason why her surname is Duncan. Her height is around my nose level, and her fair skin complemented her brown hair and pink glasses.

She giggled, and I felt goosebumps all around me. "I was grabbing some water before heading back into the room to take my things. Say, you wanna go out? Grab some coffee?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't I hang out with my best friend?" I exclaimed nervously but excitedly. In truth, I was actually in love with her, ever since 10th grade started.

It all started when we hung out for the first time, at the beach. We were having fun, but I took one good look at her and realized how pretty she was, how her skin looked under the sunset-

"Ashy? You there?"

She called out to me. Wow, I must've faded out there talking about her. "Sorry, was thinking about my homework. Could you repeat that?" I stuttered. God, I probably look stupid.

Again, she giggled. Is it me or is it getting hot in the room? "As I said earlier," she paused, "how about we head to Rachel's Cavern and proceed to the beach after?"

Ah yes, Rachel's Cavern. Situated about 5 minutes from school, it's pretty much what it is: a cavern, or at least it was designed to look like one.

I smiled cheekily and gave two thumbs up. "Yeah, I'm down to go. When are we expecting to leave?" I inquired. "Probably about 5? Are you cool with that?" She responded.

"Yeah, I'm down," I smiled, looking down. As a surprise, Naomi hugged me before waving bye and going home, leaving me stunned.

Her hair reeked of roses and her skin... just silky smooth. There's a reason why she's the most popular girl in the school, and why a lot of guys are jealous of me.

...Yep, the guys are still staring at me. Time to go back and prepare.

I took one good look at myself in the mirror, donning a Title Fight shirt, light blue jeans, and sneakers. "I look like a 5-star summer hottie," I told myself, smirking at my reflection. I took a glance at the clock where it read 4:50 pm. Well, time to head out, I suppose.

With my phone and wallet in my pocket, I strolled to Naomi's house, growing nervous. This technically isn't a date, right? It took about 5 minutes to get there, as we live in the same neighborhood.

With my hands out, I shakily knocked on the door, both nervous and thrilled. In a swift motion, the door opened and I was greeted by the sight of Naomi smiling at me without a care in the world.

Oh. My. God.

She was like an angel straight from heaven, wearing a rose miniskirt and a white crop top. I would be lying right now if I didn't want to kiss her on the spot.
