(Carmen)

(Check the video out. It's not Carmen, the song mentioned above, but it's one of my favorites and sung by Lolita in this chapter. Gatsby is also my favorite movie. Also: IMPORTANT NOTE. I realize that there is a huge age gap between Lolita and Dan. She's 18, he's 23... Yeah. This book is not in any way representing realistic ideas, though to some people it may not seem like a big deal. It's five years. When you're older, it does not matter nearly as much as it does for, as an example, an eleven-year-old and a sixteen-year-old. But it's still an age gap. Just try to ignore it?)

Chapter Four, in which Lolita gets ready for a meet & greet with Dan. It's basically just a filler to prepare for the shit that'll go down in the next chapter, which will hopefully and probably be uploaded Friday.

Chapter Focus: Lolita

-

Lolita combed through her closet, desperately looking for something to wear. According to Google, Dan was touring in Makana Beach, her hometown, and would have a meet & greet tonight at the library. She tossed behind her a glittery pink tank top, a grey cami with a blurry panda in the center, and a floor-length green polka-dot dress. Damn, I really need to clean this place out, she thought.

Sifting through the small collection of dresses hanging by sweaters and skirts, Lolita finally picked out three to try on. One was a knee-length black dress, the A-shaped skirt made from faux leather. Another had flowing orange, gold, and red fabric that met in stringy ties and dangled at her feet. The last dress was delicate, white, and lace, with a sweetheart neckline, cinched waist, and flaring skirt.

Lolita quickly tossed her current clothes over her shoulder and slipped on the black leather dress. She eyed herself in the mirror, noting her scrunched brows and downturned lips.

The dress was tight. Lolita was skinny, even by today's standards, but the dress showed off every inch of fat on her, and then some. It made her boobs look ginormous, which was fine, but it also caused fat to gather around her stomach, sides, and even little flaps to form over the armholes. She shivered and tugged the dress off.

Next, she skipped over the too-colourful Hawaiian dress and slid into the white lace one. This dress was simple, casual yet elegant. Lolita loved the shape of it - how it clung to her form until it reached her hips, where it flared out into a full skirt. She fingered the neckline, an adorable sweetheart-style that curved over her chest. It flattered her beautifully.

There was one problem.

The shape was lovely and the lace sweet and elegant, though the color was a shocking, bridal white. Lolita frowned. If only it came in black... she thought wistfully. Is there any way I could-

Just then, an idea came to her. She managed a wobbly grin in the mirror, full of hope and doubt.

Why not?

Lolita's hands churned the milky-black water, mingling with the dress and spinning it around the orange bucket. She reached over, grabbed a tiny bottle, uncapping it, and poured the rest of it in.

That should do it, she thought.

Watching the inky black color from the bottle dissolve into the dress, she felt hopeful about her plan. Five minutes before, she had been furiously ransacking the house for dyes before stumbling upon food-colouring. It was all she had, so Lolita prayed to God, Buddha, Jesus, and even Zeus before loading her favorite dress into a bucket and drowning it in this disgusting-looking liquid.
