As the sun began to set, I noticed the louder waves of the water which were followed by a wet touch on my legs.

"You're here!", I smiled with hope which was only replied with a sorry smile by him.

"I'm really sorry. I didn't want to scare you. I just wondered why you never come out.", he looked at me and nodded, giving me a small peck on the lips, then he turned his head and raised his lower body, revealing an ocean blue fish tail with golden edges on the scales and fins, it shimmered in thousand colors in the sunlight, it was beautiful.

"You're a freakin' fish!", his look darkened and I realized.

"Oh no no no! Sorry didn't mean to be rude but you are a....merman.", he began to laugh at my shocked face.

"Can...can I touch it?", he smiled and nodded.

It was warm and pretty soft although it was covered in scales. He jumped out of the water with a big splash and sat next to me, looking me deep in the eyes before kissing me softly and disappearing in the deep sea again. I couldn't wait for the next day. As I arrived, he was already waiting for me.

"Hey boy. What do we do today?", he waved his hand for me to follow him.

"Sorry, I can't breathe underwater.", and he seemed to think for a second, before he pulled me in a kiss, he let himself fall back and dragged me down with him, not breaking the kiss.

"What was that? Wait I can breathe! How?!", he pointed to our hands, which we were holding.

"I can breathe only when I touch you?", he nodded happy.

"Then why the kiss?", he blushed for a moment and then shrugged.

He showed me the beauty of the world beneath the surface. Many colors and animals, all completely different. As we took a break near a reef, I wanted to know more about this fascinating being.

"Why don't you speak?", he gave me a sad look before placing his forehead on mine.

I saw his memories, he was a human, he gave up his human life for this.

"Why did you give up your old life?", he drew something in the sand, kids laughing at a small boy crying.

"You were bullied?", a nod.

"What happened to your voice?", he pointed at his tail.

"You gave up your life and your voice for being alone and free?", a nod with sad eyes was the reply.

"I'm sorry. How long has it been?", he showed me all his fingers twice.

"20 years!?", he nodded again.

"How old are you?", same gesture three times.

"You're 30?", he shrugged and smiled.

"Can you communicate with others?", nodding.

"How? I doubt fish can understand your signs.", I smiled.

He giggled at me and closed his eyes, an angelic sound started coming to my ears.

"You sing?", he just smiled.

"So you're something like a siren?", he shrugged again with a smile.

"Can you reverse it? Do you want to go back sometimes?", he pointed to his lips and then to his heart.

"A kiss...heart....love?.....True love! Only a kiss of true love can reverse it?", he sadly nodded.

Something that was hard to get for someone who was bullied and didn't feel loved.

When we made our way back to the surface he suddenly winced in pain.

"Are okay what happened?", he got a cut from a coral.

"Is it poisonous?", thankfully he shook his head.

"Tomorrow is my last day of vacation. I have to go back then. But I promise to visit you. I would take you with me, but I live in Athens.", he gave me a sad look but added a smile.

We said our goodbyes and I went home. The next day I came a bit earlier, to spend more time with him.

"Hey! I'm here! Where are you?!", I saw him on the ground, he didn't move, I jumped in the water and pulled him out.
