Flynn's POV //

Liam left, I made sure of it. i'm still trying to wrap my head around everything that just happened. I thought I knew about their relationship, he told me a lot but god, it was far from the truth.

I would've beat him to a pulp but Mila, the way she looked at me when I had him, she was calm but shocked. I listened to her, I felt this protectiveness wash over me.

I made my way back to the living room, she was crying quietly into her hands. It broke my heart to see her like this. I sat beside her, does she want me to comfort her? Leave her alone?

"Hey, you don't have to talk to me or anything but I'm here for you" I said softly, every whimper tearing a piece of my heart.

She wiped her tears, looking up at me. Fuck, my heart was breaking at the sight of her; those teary eyes, pink cheeks.

"Can I hug you?" I asked softly. She chuckled lightly and nodded, leaning into me as I wrapped my arms around her.

She smelt amazing, her hair was as soft as silk. I've never been a hugger but god, I think I change my mind.

"Thank you, for everything" she almost whispered. I smiled, leaning my head against hers.

How could her hurt her? She's so sweet, so brave, so strong. I answered my own question. do guys target girls like her? Because some of their strengths can become a weakness?

"Just remind me to never break your heart, that was brutal. In a good way" I blurted, making her sit up and tilt her head at me.

Ahh she was like a little puppy, in a respectful way. Cute like a puppy when you call their name.

"When would we be in a position for you to break my heart?" She asked, smiling. Genuinely smiling.

I never will, don't plan on it. Not that people plan on breaking hearts, well some do. God, she's got my mind jumbled.

I went to respond but nothing came out. She smiled at me and I was at a loss for words.

I smiled back at her, silently scolding myself. I looked like an idiot.

Her POV //

"Is there anything you want?" Flynn asked, running his hand through his dark hair. There were many things I wanted; erase Liam from existence, to not still flinch when people make sudden movements or overanalyse every fucking thing.

"A hot chocolate from that one cafe near the beach would be delightful" I joked, chuckling to myself.

He jumped up, grabbing his eyes. Did he want me to leave?

"C'mon, let's go" he grinned. His smile, it could brighten even the darkest of rooms. I reciprocated the smile and followed him out to his car.

He opened the passenger door, maybe to move something. Instead, he glanced at me, gesturing toward the seat. Oh, he was opening it for me.

Once he got into the car, he glanced at me. "Please don't tell me you've never had the door open for you before" he winced, like he was in pain.

I chuckled at his statement, the way his head tilted. I shrugged, "well sometimes a person and I are going toward the same door and they beat me to it"

He laughed, shaking his head before driving toward the beach. "I'll open every door for you. Except to the public restrooms, that's creepy"

I burst out laughing, it was a sweet thing to say but just so, him. So Flynn.

Once we got to the cafe, he opened every door for me before ordering two hot chocolates with whipped cream.

I followed him to the beach, sitting on the sand as the waves crashed and the sunset. A cliche.

"Hey Flynn?" I spoke up, looking at him. His eyes were already on me which made me shy.

"Is your name secretly Eugene?" I asked with a serious face. He looked confused, shaking his head. Like a little puppy.

"Is Flynn just a cover up because you're embarrassed about the name Eugene?" I asked again, cracking a smile.

He furrowed his brows before relaxing them and laughing, "wait is this a tangled reference?" He gasped.

How does he know? I know we had like one conversation about Disney princesses a few years ago, I doubt he remembers it.

"What if I liked the name Eugene?" He rebutted, raising his brow at me.

We both stared at each other, scrunching our noses before bursting out laughing.
