Poppy and Branch spent the rest of the night snuggled up together, keeping each other safe and warm, but when the young princess awoke the next morning, the puppy troll was gone... nowhere to be seen...
"Branch?" Poppy questioned, sitting up as she looked around for her friend. "Where'd you go?"
"Arf! Arf!" she suddenly heard Branch bark from somewhere off in the distance, sounding as if he were begging for her to come quickly. "Poppy!"
With a gasp of fear, she quickly jumped up to her feet, running towards the sound of Branch's voice.
"Branch!? Branch, where are you!?" she yelled out in a panic, pushing through tree branches to find him, the large leaves whipping her face as she ran past. "Branch!?"
Finally, she pushed through one last thick bush, spotting the puppy troll sniffing intensely at the ground.
She froze in place at the sight of him, looking around for any danger.
Nothing... Branch was alone... just sniffing at the ground as if searching for something.
"What... what are you doing?" Poppy asked in confusion. She had been worried he was hurt with the urgency that had been in his voice, but he seemed perfectly fine...
"Trail," he said, too busy tracking the scent to even look up at her.
"A trail?" Poppy asked, raising an eyebrow. "A trail of what?"
"Troll."
Poppy's eyes widened at what Branch had just said, a small gasp of surprise escaping her mouth.
"A troll? You... you mean the one we're looking for?" Poppy asked, moving closer to her friend. "Arf!" Branch barked in reply, nodding his head as he smiled up at her.
Again, Poppy's eyes widened...
"You found her!?"
"Arf!"
Quickly, Branch ran off, following the trail to the troll, as he yipped happily, excited to be helping Poppy.
"Arf! Arf! This way! This way! Arf!"
Poppy smiled, not believing what she was hearing. They were actually going to find the one troll who could save them. The one troll who knew how to beat the Party Crashers!
Quickly, she took off, running after Branch excitedly. She couldn't wait to find this troll... they still had a chance to beat the Party Crashers!
