One week later
A week had passed since Izuku opened the door to the basement. His dad didn't mention it at all that night. After his dad left his room, Izuku stayed in his bed for what seemed forever, frozen still. Izuku was so scared to leave his room when dad called for dinner. He knew he needed to leave the room to not act suspicious. If he had stayed and ignored his dad, dad would have figured out what Izuku had done.
Dinner...was something.
Izuku tried to act normal, but his usual stuttering was frequent whenever he spoke. Dad had commented about it and Izuku quickly said he had a bad dream that made him scared and stuttery. Then, of course, dad made him talk about the dream.
Izuku narrowly got away with the lie. He said the dream was about being forced to go outside. After that lie was said, dad stared at him for a few moments. Izuku felt sweat drip down his face, Izuku was shivering. Dad seemed to have believed the lie and walked over to Izuku and hugged him tightly, saying that will never happen.
After dinner, Izuku allowed dad to brush his hair then went to bed. Even the simple task of "relaxing" while his dad brushes his hair was stressful.
Izuku was terrified.
Dad didn't seem to have noticed what Izuku had done earlier that day. He acted normal, if anything, more lenient. He didn't get upset when Izuku wanted to leave right away when dad finished doing his hair. He simply smiled and said goodnight.
That night, Izuku slept with one eye open. At least, it felt like he was doing that. He listened to his dad walking down the hall to his room and getting settled.
In the morning, everything was normal.
Dad acted the same.
And with that, Izuku's nerves lightened. He began to think dad never noticed what he did at all.
Seeing the proof and thinking about it, Izuku felt better.
A week later, Izuku almost forgot what happened. He didn't feel anxious when he was near dad or terrified of dad finding it out. However, whenever Izuku was in the foyer or saw the basement door, he felt his blood run cold.
Luckily, Izuku would use music to suppress any nerve-racking thoughts. And it worked rather well, he'd got so distracted playing music, his thoughts were never an issue.
One day (one week later), Izuku was woken up by his dad who said he would be gone until around 2. Izuku expressed his annoyance by flopping back to bed, closing his eyes. He heard dad sigh and sit down on the bed. He said he could buy Izuku some new music sheets. And with that, Izuku shot up from bed and hugged dad so tight, he felt strain in his arms.
Dad chuckled, saying he would be back in a bit. Izuku followed dad to the door and waved him off.
Now, Izuku was excited.
And with that, Izuku began to do his daily morning routine. Though, the only difference from the usual was he took longer playing the piano and brushing his hair.
Something about brushing his hair made him sad.
The feeling of closeness he would have with his dad was gone from that moment. He was alone.
Going to his bedroom, he sat down on the ledge. The cold breeze flowed through the window, hitting Izuku. He bundled up some of his hair and wrapped it around his body.
Looking outside was something he loved to do. Dad never really liked Izuku doing it but he loved it. He loved seeing the animals run around, the birds chirping and a few deer walking past the window.
