"How about we go for a jog?" We had a day off from the farm, and so Lillian had been trying to come up with plans for the day. I had already spent the morning in my cabin with a book while Lillian had gone and practised.
Where she got the motivation to go for a jog after a whole morning of practice, I had no idea. However, the idea did intrigue me. Lillian and Luke and Alexander even had all told me that I needed to start practising and how many things had changed since I had. I wondered how it would be to take a run, if I really would experience a difference in stamina, strength, perhaps even speed.
"Do I even have any sports clothes?" I wondered out loud. Before I could put my book down and push myself off the bed, Lillian had already found her way to my dresser and had started pulling sports leggings I didn't know were there from the bottom of a drawer. She was digging for a top while I inspected the leggings, which looked incredibly comfortable.
I slipped the leggings on, not bothering to wait to be alone. Being with Lillian all the time had swiftly taken care of any shame or awkwardness, especially since I was used to having a little sister that used to cling to me all the time when I was younger. This was kind of like that. I did not mind it, in fact, I found comfort in it.
After slipping the black leggings on, a sports bra and a dark-green shirt I felt cautiously comfortable. Before the crash, I went running about two times a week. It felt like it had been ages since I had put on my running shoes and had put my hair in a ponytail just to go outside and find an outlet for my energy.
I had to admit I was secretly a bit excited.
For almost two weeks, all I had done was go to the farm, stay in my cottage and read and go to the city hall two times. Other than that, there had not been much to do around here. Or at least not anything in which I was ready to participate.
It was just after lunch hour, most of the pack members were working or practising. A few walked around in the village but for the bigger part, it looked deserted. "Come on, we'll start slow. Just follow me, I know this awesome place close by." Lillian waved at me to follow her.
And so we took off, we started on the edge of the village, we followed the edge of the village until we continued running once we ran out of village border to follow.
I had not set foot outside of the village since arriving here, I looked around me, feeling somewhat anxious.
However, I did notice that my endurance had not deteriorated in the last two weeks. In fact, it seemed to have improved, something which should not have been possible. At least, not if I were normal. With each breath that I inhaled and each step that I took, I could feel the changes.
There was no doubt that my endurance had improved, and so had my speed. Every time I put my feet down and pushed myself away from the ground, I felt light on my feet, lighter than I had ever experienced. It seemed nearly effortless.
We passed tree after tree, the woods were thick with trees and other greenery. Ever since passing the border of the village, we had not passed any more buildings. Lillian had once told me that the official border or the lands of the village stretched far beyond the village itself. I wondered how far we would have to go beyond that. Though I wasn't willing to find out today.
After a while of more greenery and rocks and some small hills, Lillian called out to me. "Nearly there!" I wondered where 'there' was.
Before I could call out, the trees cleared and made way for a great open space in the middle of the forest. With the trees out of the way, I could make out a great lake stretching over a few hundred meters away. Lillian came to a stop and breathed in and out as she seemed to take in the sight. I joined her, catching my breath as I watched the lake and the greenery around it.
