"I can come pick you up." I suggest, placing the phone in between my cheek and shoulder as I arrange the guest room.
"No no." she objects and I sigh. Typical.
"Gran?"
"I can find my way from the airport to your house myself," she snaps, the sound of a lot of people at the background. "stop treating me like I'm some old hag."
She ends the call and I shake my head with a smile on my face.
Grandma has always been difficult since I've known her. Not difficult in the annoying way but difficult in the 'i can do it myself' way.
She never wants to have someone do something for her. She's just so independent.
My phone rings again and I pick it up without even checking the caller ID.
"Do you need my help?" I say knowingly into the call, thinking it's my grandma.
"With?" his deep voice asks and I jump.
Pulling the phone off my ear to check the caller, I sigh when I see it was Grey.
"Sorry I thought you were someone else."
"Who?" he asks, his voice laced with jealousy.
"My grandma."
"Oh she's coming over?"
I nod, realizing he can't see me. "Yes, for two nights."
"Oh okay. Wanted to take you out on a date." he sulks and I laugh softly.
"We can always go another time Grey," I step out of the room, shutting the door on my way out. "Don't be a baby."
He grumbles but I couldn't hear what he was saying.
My doorbell rings and I practically sprint to the door. "Can I call you later babe?"
"Babe? Oh my goodness."
I giggle, ending the call and opening the door.
My grandma stands at the other side, looking radiant as ever.
"Oh my," she yelps when I pull her in for a hug. "Did you miss me this much?"
I never noticed how much I missed her until I saw her. I haven't seen her for almost a year and I missed her so much.
"Gran," I pull away from the hug with tears in my eyes. "Why do you have to live across the world?"
