The sound of melodic laughter filled Remus Lupin's ears as soon as he walked through the portrait hole and into the Gryffindor common room. He knew immediately who it belonged to. It was hard not to. Theodora Fairchild, or as she liked to be called, Thea, had her head tipped back as she laughed at something Marlene McKinnon just said. Lily Evans sat by their side, clutching a pillow into her chest and burying her face in it from time to time. All eyes were on them, or more specifically, Thea.

Thea was beautiful. You'd be stupid not to think so. She had warm, dark brown hair that cascaded down her back in light waves, and thick eyebrows that framed her delicate face beautifully. Her hazel eyes were Remus's favorite feature of hers. She looked at people so intently, so deeply, that he often wondered if she knew more than she let on. She probably did. She was insanely smart as well.

"Oi, Moony! Move, you're in the way!" Sirius exclaimed from behind him. Remus blushed as he noticed he was staring at Thea. So much for being discreet.

Remus stepped to the side and watched as Sirius threw himself on the couch next to Thea, placing his head on her lap. Her slender hands immediately started playing with his hair, Sirius closing his eyes in content.

Remus frowned to himself. He knows he shouldn't feel jealous, but he couldn't help it.

"She's beautiful," James spoke from beside him.

"Yeah, she is." Remus agreed. "Wait, what?"

"Lily." James chuckled. "Although Thea sure is pretty as well, isn't she?" He smirked. Remus rolled his eyes.

    "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Sure," James said. "But just so you know. Green isn't your color."

James walked away from his side and toward the girls and Sirius. He took a tentative seat next to Lily who, surprisingly, smiled and nodded at the bespectacled boy. James was too stunned to speak.

"Come on, Moony," Peter grabbed his wrist and pulled Remus toward the group. The blond boy sat on the floor directly across Marlene while Remus stood there awkwardly.

"Hello, Remus!" Thea greeted him with a smile.

    Remus smiled back. "Hello, Thea."

The two stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity when in reality it was some mere seconds. Remus looked away first and sat down on the other side of the couch, pulling up Sirius's feet and placing them down again in his lap.

He could feel Thea's eyes burning holes on the side of his head and he did his best to ignore it. Peter asked her a question, which finally made her eyes divert from him to the boy in question.

Now it was Remus's turn to stare at her. She had gotten even more beautiful if that was even remotely possible. Her skin was a tad bit darker, making the freckles on the bridge of her nose stand out and her eyes to look more green than hazel. Her hair was also the slightest bit lighter, but he doubted anyone noticed.
