*Fuzz's POV*

Dad walked up to the door of the enormous human den, and meowed loudly. He scratched the door, and I could hear something click behind it.

I held my breath. What was behind the monstrous door? A furless creature wearing a series of brightly colored pelts opened the door. She was a young human, and had cat fur spread all over her pelts.

"Watch an learn." Dad said, and turned to the curious human. He meowed pitifully, and his eyes grew round and pleading. The human cooed something I couldn't understand, and pet Dad on the head. She did the same to me an Benny.

I tried to hold back a hiss as she stroked me, and I quickly drew a paw over my head to get the grossness off. Dad strolled into the large doorway, followed by Benny and me.

"Queen?" Dad called, and flicked his tail impatiently. "It's me, Rust! I brought our kits over to visit." I saw a cream colored she-cat, Mom, emerge from a smaller, wonderfully colored den. Mom gave us a strange look, and sniffed at me and Benny. She scrunched up her nose and turned her head away.

"They smell awful." She meowed. "Rust, you rascal! You never learned any manners, did you?" She glared at me, and I took a small step back. My father glared at us.

"I promised I'd take care of them as soon as the didn't need a drop of milk again!" He said, his mew full of pain and sadness. "Aren't you glad to see your sons healthy and strong as I promised?" Mom scoffed.

"They're about as healthy and strong as a bunch of sickly rats!" She spat. "Look how skinny they are! If I were you, I would've dumped them at the nearest pound." I gasped, and Benny's eyes were wide with horror. Seeing the looks on our faces, dad took a step forward.

"How... How dare you!" He growled. "Don't talk like that in front of your sons! They're perfect, and a lot more healthy and fit than a spoiled kittypet like you." I cringed. I didn't like the word kittypet, so I call them house cats. It's kinda rude.

"Daddy, mommy," Benny butted in. "Please stop arguing!" Mom turned to face him and hit his face, leaving a tiny scratch on his muzzle. Benny burst into a wail and leapt backward, crashing into a pile of neatly stacked house cat toys. Dad growled, and his fur rose.

I don't think I've ever seen him so mad in my entire life.

"That's it." He hissed, and pointed a claw at Mom. "If you can't see what I see in our sons, then I guess you shouldn't be seeing them at all." Queen snorted.

"Good!" She snarled. "I didn't even want to see your flea-bitten pelts in my den anyways." Dad helped Benny out of the pile of scattered toys, and turned to me.

"Come on, Fuzz." He meowed angrily. "We're leaving." I followed him out of the cat door, and Dad helped us climb up the fence. I wobbled a little, but regained my balance quickly.

"Let's go to the Feeding Place to get some brunch." Dad meowed, trying to make us feel better.

But a little food couldn't help the part of me that just died inside.
