When I left Jax's place the next morning I saw Mom waiting for me outside. I had a wonderful time at his place. Thank God, I slept in a separate room because I thought I'll be sleeping with Stephanie. I don't want to be anywhere near her presents.
"Mom!" I yelled. I ran quickly to jump in her arms.
"How was it? Did you miss me?" she said jokingly.
"Not one bit... maybe just a little bit," I said, smirking.
We were supposed to leave when I heard a loud yell coming from the huge house.
"Wait, Arrya!" yelled Jax. He came to give me a comic that he knew I liked. "Keep it," he said smiling.
"Really?" I said surprised.
"Yeah." he looked at me with a soft, gorgeous glare. "Good day, Miss Schuyler." He looked at Mom and then looked at me. "Good day, Arrya."
I laughed hard and then I hugged him. He hugged me back, and we left.
"Bye! See you at school! Don't forget to bring your backpack!" he said, winking at me.
"Alright! Bye!"
On the way home, I could see big houses all around. In the distance I saw an older woman – wait, she looks like that woman that gave me the money. I looked at her rushing to her car and left.
"Stay!" I yelled. But she didn't hear me.
"What was that about?" said my Mom, shrieking.
"Oh, well when I went to that book store, remember? The way I paid for the book was from that woman that you now saw leaving. She gave me €10 and then left quickly. Now, I just wanted to thank her but I guess she doesn't want me to. I could see on her face that she knew who I was, though."
"Huh! That's quite a story." said my Mom. "Maybe you'll see her once again and you can thank her then."
"Yeah, I guess," I replied.
It took a long time to get home, walking.
After some time of walking, we were almost home. Further from us, I spotted a small creature staying behind a trash can, it looked familiar, like a dog! The dog looked hurt, and I thought to go investigate. I quickly let go of Mom's hand and I rushed to see what was there. I could hear Mom screaming in the background for me to come back.
"Arrya! Where do you think you're going?! Arrya! Do you hear me?!" Mom yelled furiously.
I didn't listen and continued running. When I got to the trash can, the little dog was yelping and barking, she or he looked scared. Its front paw was badly injured and its neck was chained to a metal chain. She or he was tied to the trash can, and she looked like she hadn't seen water and food in a while. I tried to take off the chain from her neck, but she wouldn't let me get anywhere near her.
Then I thought, to lure her with some food because I still have some leftover food in my purse from Jax's mother.
"Hey, little girl... or boy... come here. I just want to take off your chain." I said slowly.
"Hey! Arrya! Come back here!" yelled Mom.
I quickly turned to tell her to stop moving for a second and mimed to her that there is a dog behind me. She came slowly to me, for she could see the dog.
"Aww, poor thing," said Mom, almost crying.
"I'm trying to give her or him some food so I can take off this chain," I told Mom.
"Yes, yes! Do your thing," said Mom, trusting my judgment.
"Hey, baby. Look, I have some food." I told the dog.
She or he came closer to me and started nipping on my hand. I giggled and gave it the leftover food. While she or he was eating I slowly took off the chain and quickly backed off for her or him to eat in peace.
"Mom, do you think we could take her or him home?" I asked, whispering.
"I'm not sure... I need to talk to Grandma."
"Pleaseeee?" I implored.
"Ok! Ok, fine!" she said laughing.
"Yes!" I said quietly.
I picked up the dog and looked to see if it was a girl or boy – it was a girl!
"She's a girl!" I told Mom. Then I glared back at her and told her, "I'm going to call you Sigma. Do you like that name, hmm?" I petted her belly with loving eyes and then looked at Mom. "What do you say of the name Sigma, Mom?"
"Really great, sweetheart," said Mom, smiling.
I saw Sigma's eyes and then I couldn't believe it! They were purple! How on Earth are they purple?
"Mom! Sigma's eyes are purple!"
"What? No way!" Mom made a peak at Sigma and then said, "Unbelievable!"
"I know, right?" I said, shocked. "You are beautiful, you know that Sigma? Yes, you are!"
We needed to take her to this nice place called a 'vet' so they could do a checkup on her and help her injured paw.
"We need to take Sigma to the vet and then to a dog washer because she stinks!" said Mom looking at Sigma adoringly.
We looked for a vet nearby and found one quite close to our house.
The vet told us that she has external parasites and Canine influenza which doesn't have a cure, but, if we do what the vet tells us then in a couple of weeks she will recover completely!
We went to a shop to buy her dog food and toys and when we got home Sigma ran directly on my bed – I told you it's soft and comfy!
We ate dinner, Sigma as well, and I went to bed cuddling her. She is so soft! Why would someone abandon her?
