The last thing we needed to get was a PARROT. I mean I guess it makes sense; it is the most piratey of pirate essentials.

You know I've always wanted a pet, possibly a dog or a cat, maybe even a pig...

But a parrot? Hey I'm not knocking it but this should be interesting...

We went west near to the pier, the shop was called

"Pet Shop Buoys"

I guess that's because it's a shop that was built on top of two great giant buoys.

As we entered the shop the big hulking cage full of parrots where the first things that caught our eye.

This shop also had a duo managing it. The two guys were called Ten-Ants and Neil Lowe.

Ten-Ants was bald, but he overcompensated by wearing a big puffy technicolour jacket made up of parrot feathers, he had a parrot himself that was perched on his left shoulder.

Neil Lowe was a lot shorter, but he made up for it by wearing a tall top hat. On top of the hat...was a duck.

Yeah...this was a weird for me to look at.

"I'm guessing you young'uns must be from the School O'Crossbones, right?" boomed Ten-Ants

We showed him the list that we had and he nodded his head, this seems to be something he has seen before. "Yeah, we get freshers like you all the time. Neil will show you around." Ten-Ants told us as Neil lept off the stool he was standing on and walked us through the shop.

We saw the Parrots flapping about the shop "Now then when it comes to it, you don't choose the parrot-"

I figure he then say something along the lines of "The Parrot chooooses yoooou!" which I interrupted with.

"Well, not quite...you see there has to be a common understanding but also a contrast. Call it the two-wing policy."

What does he mean by that?

"You see the two-wing policy goes as follows, A parrot must have at least one trait similar with the companion as well as having one trait that contrasts but can be complimentary."

I looked around the shop for a parrot that would suit me, but one parrot caught my eye...

It was a red and black parrot with their left eye seemed to be scarred. It was flapping about with its fiery feathers flying everywhere. It was attacking some sort of scratching post.

"Oh...you're looking at Dante...he's a feisty one. He seems to always be practising for battle, problem is that the only creature it seems to hurt is himself."

So...yeah, that's something that we might have in common...

"Although he seems to know what he wants by the clock. He knows when to wake up, when to eat, when to sleep." Neil Described.

Dante started to headbutt the post and knocked himself back.

I rushed to see if he was alright, Dante rolled on to his talons however he was still dizzy from bonking his head.

Though even then I knew that Dante was good for me...

I was looking towards Billie-Jean who was studying the parrots.

Neil went over to them "I can see that you're the type of person that appreciates balance." Neil brought Billie-Jean over to two small parrots, one blue and one yellow.

"May I present Tom the Norwegian blue and Kenny the Hawaiian Yellow. They're both fairly excitable parrots, Kenny's always happy to help but Tom is a little bit of a wildcard."

Billie-Jean and the parrots got on like mates.

We paid for them, and we left on our way back to the school.
