It has been 4 months since Dr. Grey got offered a job at Minnesota. She was glad to have been offered the opportunity to work there for Dr. David Hamilton. Although she missed being in Seattle, she had met with Nick Marsh again, a transplant surgeon who was previously a patient of hers that she built great chemistry with.

She felt genuinely happy when she was around him, at least that is what she thought. No one really knew about Nick, except for Amelia. She was afraid that if she told other people about him, it would all be ruined or she would be judged for moving on too quick when Dr. Hayes and she had just ended things not too long ago.

Today, Meredith was visiting Grey-Sloan for the first time in a while, and she had no idea how her colleagues would react. She had not visited the hospital in a little over a month now, but she had definitely visited her kids. Since she missed the chance of spending time with her kids during Thanksgiving, she was going to be spending Christmas all the way until New Year's with them.

She tried to still keep connections with almost everyone back at Grey-Sloan when she was not visiting, because she missed being there. However, one person who she had not kept in touch with at all for the longest and has been avoiding whenever she did visit the hospital was Dr. Hayes. He might have been one of the firsts to know about Minnesota, but he was definitely not one of the firsts to know about Nick Marsh.

Telling him about Nick was not something she wanted to do, but she knew that he deserved to know because of all the missed calls she had from him. She did not want to tell him through a call, but she also did not want to do it in person. She just did not have the guts to break his heart like that, knowing that he had ended things for his son's well-being, not because they didn't work out together. Dr. Grey thought everything was fine as long as Dr. Hayes didn't find out about her and Dr. Marsh, until he did find out.

She was walking down the hallway on her way to meet Dr. Pierce and Dr. Shepherd in the lounge room. She spotted Dr. Bailey and Dr. Webber near her. Meredith's immediate response was to walk faster toward her destination and avoid eye contact with them to run away from a scolding. She tried turning to her right, but it was too late.

"Meredith Grey!" Dr. Bailey shouted from a distance as her and Dr. Webber walked up to her, not letting her get away.

Meredith paused, raising her eyebrows and turning to them like if she were a child who just got in trouble.

"Where have you been?" Dr. Bailey crossed her arms.

"Meredith, it's good to see you," Dr. Webber added, smiling graciously at Meredith.

"Dr. Bailey... Dr. Webber... it's so nice to see you two," she stated, avoiding Dr. Bailey's question.

"You haven't been here. I hope you're accomplishing something good," Dr. Bailey said in an almost demanding tone. "We miss you."

"Of course. I am," she nodded. "I miss everyone, too, Dr. Bailey."

They all stood awkwardly, waiting for someone to say something.

"Now, if you will excuse me, I have things to do.  Important things to do."

"Go on," Dr. Bailey said, holding back a grin.

Dr. Grey smiled at them and began walking away.

"Meredith!" Dr. Webber called out before she walked away completely.

She turned her body and slowly walked backwards, careful to not trip over anything.

"I'm very proud of you," he said.

Her mouth curved into a smile, mouthing the word thank you as Dr. Webber and Dr. Bailey stared at her. She turned back around, continuing to walk. The next person she ran into was Dr. Wilson.
