"Come on, let's go!" Astrid yelled.
"Coming!" you yelled back, grabbing your bucket.
You sighed. Another night, another dragon raid. Filling the bucket, you rushed to a near-by house, splashing your buckets on the burning hay before the fire could spread.
You turned around, going to fill the bucket again, you brushed your shoulder-length hair out of your face, putting it behind your ear. Standing up again, you went to the next house, avoiding the people.
You were the type of person to rather work alone than in a group so you went around putting out fires that weren't too big yet, letting the other teens handle big burning houses.
You sighed. This is annoying. Why do the Vikings just not give them enough for them to survive??? I mean it wouldn't hurt at all... Actually no they would take too much.
"NIGHT FURY!"
"GET DOWN!"
You immediately squatted, covering your head with your hands. Of course, you made sure not to spill the water. After it had shot, you stood up resuming your oh so interesting job.
Suddenly, a person ran into you from the side, making you stumble back a bit.
"Sorry, Y/n!" you heard Hiccup yell.
No, you weren't friends. Just acquaintances - like everyone else was to you. You much rather kept to yourself. Although during raids, you listened to Astrid to tell you when was the time to go help because you were too lazy to follow the situation yourself. Of course, Astrid thought you were just dumb.
You dodged a Nadder, which was falling from the sky and refilled your bucket. As you turned around, you were met with a Zippleback that was sending gas out. You sighed. Here goes the water.
You threw the bucket-full of water at the head that wasn't spitting gas and turned to refill it, still staying aware of what was behind your back. Although you knew full well that a wet head can't light a spark.
"I got this one!" you heard someone yell right before the Zippleback was pressed to the ground.
"You're welcome," you muttered before going to your job again.
You couldn't though, because you heard a scream.
"AAAAAHHHHH!"
What now? Can't I just do my job??? you sighed, frustrated with the situation. You looked around, trying to find the one to cause the ruckus.
Hiccup was running down a hill, a Monstrous Nightmare right behind him. Your eyes widened and you threw away the last bit of water before putting the bucket down - the raid was about to end anyway.
Yikes! you thought, following the situation with your eyes. Hiccup was now hiding behind a wooden pole. You sighed. This is not going to end well...
It really didn't. Stoick - the chief - did fight off the dragon but the pole broke, sending the lantern-like thing rolling around the village, probably setting more things on fire. And it also let most of the dragons get away.
You furrowed your brows a bit, going to stand next to the other teens.
"Okay but I hit a Night Fury," Hiccup defended himself
That's actually a valid reason, you thought, watching Hiccup being dragged by his dad as he explained how he had actually hit it this time.
"STOP!" Stoick cut his son off. "Just, stop. Every time you step outside, disaster falls. Do you not see that I have bigger problems? Winter is almost here and I have an entire village to feed!"
"Well, between you and me, the village could do with a little less feeding, don't you think?" Hiccup asked.
You grinned. I agree.
"This isn't a joke, Hiccup!" Stoick said seriously.
Your eyes widened a bit. I would be sooo embarrassed.
After a little lecture-argument, Hiccup was getting escorted back to his house by Gobber.
The other teens taunted him as he passed but you just lifted one corner of your mouth into a somewhat encouraging smile and shrugged your shoulders. As if to say 'I don't think you were that bad'.
He gave you a small grateful smile, continuing to go up the hill after the quiet exchange.
You yawned and went off to the forest, planning to spend some time in your hideout.
