"Night!" you called before stepping out the door.

You hid yourself in the maze, keeping away from the scene and any possible attention. Unlike Hiccup, you've never ever wanted to kill a dragon. In your heart, it just didn't seem right. And now you also had the proof. So you decided to lay low on the whole killing thing.

You just sat at the far corner of the maze, staring at the ground until everything around you started to break.

"Hey!" you ran out in front of the Nadder. "Come at me!"

As it ran towards you, you started to quietly hum the tune of the lullaby. "Go back to the cage now, alright?" you asked quietly, making movements as if you were hitting it for cover up.

"Whoa, Y/n, I didn't know you were that good at fighting!" Ruffnut complimented as Astrid yelled at Hiccup.

"Thanks," you said emotionlessly and nodded.

"Oh, hey girl," you greeted Glacier who came to sit on your feet in the cave. It was pretty rainy so you had lit up a candle and were sewing some leather together. You showed it to Glacier. "Here. This is so we can do cooler stuff when we fly."

She made an approving noise, looking towards it with curiosity, sniffing it a bit.

"There," you said, stopping for a bit and placing it on her back. "How does it feel?"

Her tail whipped around as she let her tongue fall out of her mouth happily while looking at you. You chuckled. "I'll take it that you like it." She made a happy noise again before coming to sit behind you to watch you work.

***

"Oh," you realised looking out. "Sorry, girl. I've really got to go now."

She sat in your way, making puppy, well, hatchling eyes at you.

"Glacier," you whined. "I'll be back tomorrow, I'll finish the saddle and then we can fly, okay?"

She turned her head away.

"Please?" you asked, putting your hand out, palm towards her.

She slowly turned her head back and put her nose on your palm. This was you two's way of making a promise.

"Thank you," you smiled, hugging her. "Be good, Glacier. And don't go near the village!" you called over your shoulder, walking into the rain.

***

After another boring training, you were back in the forest. Hiccup had gotten the Zippleback back to the cage that day so you didn't quite have to expose yourself again.

"Glacier!" you called. The dragon came and tackled you down happily. "Nice to see you too, buddy. Now let me finish the saddle so we can go and fly."

She immediately jumped off of you, nudging the saddle towards you.

You took it with a chuckle and added the finishing touches, making sure there was something you could hold on to and something that would hold on to you.

"There," you said, showing it to Glacier. "Now stay still so I can put it on."

She started whipping her tail excitedly but you still got it on. "Done. Wanna try it out, girl?"

She jumped around you, throwing you on her back with her head. "Okay then," you chuckled, securing yourself on the saddle. "Let's go."

With a few flaps of her wings, she rose into the air, flying through the clouds. "Woohoo!" you yelled happily. "Now down and between the columns!"

She made a noise and dove down, zig-zagging through the huge pillars. Doing that, you noticed something black fly past a few pillars to your left. "Wait, Glacier. Follow that."

She nodded and followed the thing. Getting closer, you realised it was a Night Fury... with a person on its back.

"Closer, Glacier," you said. "Carefully."

Getting closer, you recognised the person. "You said you let him go."

The boy on the saddle jumped, looking towards your voice. "Y/n, I- I-"

You laughed. "Don't worry. That also explains why you're that good all of a sudden."

He laughed too. "That explains why you were that good right from the start. Although you're trying to keep it low, aren't you?"

You nodded. "Yeah."

After a few minutes of flying in silence, you opened your mouth again. "Hey, Hiccup?"

"Yeah?"

"Promise me that if one of us gets discovered, we won't give away the other," you said, looking at him.

"Yes, I promise," he said quietly. "If one of them gets taken then with the other, we at least have a chance to get the one back."

You nodded. "Yeah."
