In a Heart Beat

I woke up in a warm embrace. Some events of last night were blurred from my mind, but I forgot how I got on my bed. Maybe someone carried me, or I stumbled my way onto the bed.

I open my eyes, and I realize there's a pair of arms wrapped around my waist. I struggle, but I eventually turn around within the arms and see Elliot. I don't know why, but I yelled, and then shoved her off me and she landed on the floor.

She laughs, but she says ouch. Which was cute considering how she massaged her ass.

"Sorry, I don't know what overcame me." She stands up and shakes her head, waving me off. I slide off the bed and make my way over to her. "Breakfast?"

She nods. "Yes, but let's go out and have a breakfast date." I smile loving the sound of that. I wrap my arms around her neck and she wraps hers around my waist.

"I'm in." I peck her and leave the room to brush my teeth and shower. When I was done, I came into the room but it was empty so I figured Elliot went back to her place to get ready. So I did the same.

When I'm done, I fix my bed and Elliot comes into my room.

"You ready?" I nod. "Okay. good, let's go." I smile, and put on my jacket, then wrapped a scarf around my neck.

I lock my door and we get into the elevator.

Elliot presses the button to close the door including the first floor. Then she looks at me and leans against the wall. Tilts her head and smirks. I look down feeling nervous, the way she stares at me always makes me feel something in my stomach.

I look just in time to see her closing the space between us. My back to the wall. She peer's down at me, and she reaches up to pull a strand of hair behind my ear.

"You're beautiful." She says. "I love you."

I broke out into a smile. "I love you too." My smile never fades. Not even as the door opens and we step out of the elevator.

She takes my hand, and we look down at our collided hands.

We walked in silence, letting the breeze take its course. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, I guess the new year that's coming just around the corner, has everyone excited about their plans.

Makes me wonder what I'll be doing. And if Elliot would be by my side, but I doubt that she won't. She has been sleeping in my apartment, and it seemed that neither of us could stay away from another. But, it just proves that we feel the same way.

I had no idea where she was leading me, but I didn't ask her, because back then I wouldn't have the same trust I have in her now. And plus, I'll go anywhere she goes in a heartbeat.

She stops near a cafe with cherry blooms painted on the glass window. She opens the door for me, and I walk in. I begin unwrapping my scarf from my neck.

A woman leads us to a table by a window and sits down. She sets two menus in front of us and leaves us to go through them.

"This menu seems more like a diner's menu rather than a cafe's," Elliot says lowly, as she scans the menu with her eyes. She looks up. "Do you know what you're getting?"

"A toast with a coffee and a blueberry muffin," I say. "And you?"

She chuckles. "I only asked so that I could order the same. I can be pretty picky."

I shake my head as I smile at her. She closes her menu, and I do the same. I glance out the window, then at her. She reaches out her hand and grabs mine.

"Sadie Jones?" I smile, but I hum. She licks her lips and blows out a breath. I couldn't help but notice that she was nervous. Which made her look adorable, but in turn made me nervous.

"What is it?" I tilt my head.

"Okay, let me try again." I nod. "Sadie Jones?"

"Yes, Elliot Collins?"

She smirks. "Will you do me the pleasure of being my girlfriend?"

I break into a grin. I was engulfed in happiness. I've longed for this moment, I would've asked her, but I wanted her to because I wanted to be sure of her feelings. I had trust issues, it's hard to understand because I did trust her.

Before I can answer--though my answer was pretty clear--the waitress came to our table. We put in our orders, and then she left. I looked at Elliot.

"Yes," I say. "I will be your girlfriend."

"Finally," Tod says. We were lounging in my apartment, Tod, Elliot, Beck, and Brody. After Elliot and I made it official I told Tod and insisted we gathered together and celebrate just as he thought we should at the mall. That guy really keeps his words. "Took you two long enough."

Beck laughs. "It honestly did, all our efforts have worked."

Elliot gives her a face and she giggles. I smile because I liked how she was with kids. And that brought a warm feeling. I loved her.

"So I hear you two have been sleeping in the same bed." Brody says. He wiggles his eyebrows. I look at Elliot, she shrugs. Idiot.

I smile and look at Brody. "Yeah," I say. "But not like that."

Brody smiles. "Which means it's bound to happen anytime." I roll my eyes and lean my head on Elliot's shoulder.

"What are you guys talking about?" Beck asked. Tod gives Brody a look. He shrugs.

"Nothing, they're just being weird." Tod says. Beck shrugs, and goes back to playing the game on her phone, which I was guessing was Candy Crush because she never stops playing it.

As I sat there with my friends, I thought about the fact that this was the first time I've ever dated a girl, nonetheless, anyone. And this was a new experience for me, just like everything else in my life.

The friends I made here were way better than the ones I had made back home. And to say the least, if it was something I would do again just to meet these people, I would come out to my mom again.

In a heartbeat.
