I Want You
The late afternoon sun plays across the floor of the cafe, and I sat behind the counter on a stool that Rachel had gotten for me because apparently, I was right, she's always watching. And she's noticed that I don't sit when I'm not serving or waiting on someone.
And no she's not playing favorites, in fact, she has gotten stools for all of us. Well, maybe she set me aside and told me that she was going to give me one first but she didn't want people feeling left out.
I didn't understand why she liked me so much, but at least I didn't have a mean boss.
When the news about Elliot's and mine relationship spread, Rachel wanted to come in and congratulate us personally.
She also thinks it's all her doing, maybe partial, but not entirely.
Anyway, I was sitting behind the counter, watching Elliot wait on people, and making people smile with her charm. I couldn't bother getting jealous at how women looked at her sometimes, because she was mine, and I'm the one going home with her.
So I just watched in amusement. Enjoying the view.
Elliot was pretty hot, that smirk and her gaze. Especially her serious one, which had an effect on me. It made me want to attack her with hugs and kisses.
I don' think I've ever seen her jealous before, but what happens next just shows me just that. Here's what happened:
I was sitting here watching her, and as I was distracted the door to the cafe opened, a strong wind blows in and causes me to look towards the door just in time to see a guy come in.
It was snowing outside, already sticking to the ground. Tod put a mat in front of the door which Rachel asked him to.
The guy who had walked in stomps his feet on the mat and watched as the snow fell onto it. He grabbed a clear plastic bag and placed his umbrella in it. He glanced around, taking in the place, and then glanced at me.
He walks towards me with a generous smile. I return it and stand up.
"Hello." He says. "Can I get a coffee, black, and a muffin to go?" I nod and put in the order.
"That'll be ten fifty-four." He nods, and takes out his wallet, slips out twenty dollars and I give him his change. "Thanks."
He nods and puts his wallet away.
His stare lingers, and I look around the cafe to avoid it. I never liked how guys looked at me. He reminded me of the guy who was here last time that Tod rescued me from. They could be brothers.
"Would it be rude to ask for a name?" He asks now, I glance at him. How was I supposed to respond to that?
"Um.."
"My name is Baden." He says now. "It's a weird name I know, my father named all my siblings after all his siblings. Which is just weird."
I looked at him in surprise, because what the fuck?
"Yeah," he says. "I know."
I couldn't help but laugh. Because yeah. He seemed tortured with his name's background.
Carisa set his coffee on the counter, he picked it up and took a sip. Now he was waiting for his muffin. "Now every time someone calls out our names, two people would reply back. It was something I'll never get used to."
I laughed again because imagine that happening every time you were in a room full of family. "Must be entertaining though, right?"
He nods. "Indeed." I grin and shake my head.
That's when Elliot comes to stand beside me.
"So name?" He tries again. "Or do you have an embarrassing story behind your name too?" He lifts an eyebrow, a weird smile on his face.
"Sadie," I say. "Nothing embarrassing about it."
He nods. "Lucky girl."
"Are you done?" I look to my right and see Elliot sending him her famous glare.
"What?" The guy asks. Tod comes out of the kitchen but he stops in his tracks once Elliot starts talking again.
"Are you done flirting with my girlfriend?" Baden clears his throat and looks at me. "Don't look at her." He looks away.
"Yeah, s-sorry." He sounded like he was choking.
Tod hands him his muffin. Baden doesn't even bother glancing at me as he walks away to leave. I lick my lips, then bit my bottom lip, and look at Elliot, who was looking extra hot right now.
She ignored my gaze, but I couldn't stop looking at her.
Recently she's been wearing sleeveless shirts, and let me just say...those arms.
"Can you close up?" Carisa asked Tod. He shakes his head.
"Sorry girl, I have to pick up my sister." He unwraps his apron and disappears into the break room. Elliot walks around me and clears the tables of the last customers we had.
"I'll close," I tell Carisa. "Go home." She smiles and nods.
"Thanks." I wave her off. She follows Tod into the break room. I look at Eliot, watching her as she tacked up plates. She walked past me into the kitchen. I smile and clean the counter.
Carisa and Tod walk past me and wave at me as they leave. I finish off wiping down the counter and move onto the tables. When I'm done, I enter the kitchen. Elliot was washing the dishes. I lean against the sink next to her and look at her.
She still doesn't meet my eyes.
She does her last dish and puts it to dry. She turns off the sink water and goes to dry her hands. I take the sink sprayer and aim it at her, turn it on and it hits her back. She shrieks and looks at me. I turn off the water and I smile. She had finally made eye contact. She comes up to me and I lean back against the sink.
She looks down at me with her serious expression. Her hair was drenched. Which just made her look hotter.
I grabbed her collar and pulled her into a kiss. We were in each other's hair, it was the sexist kiss I've ever had. It was intense, it was a kiss that craved more.
She pulled away and carried me onto the counter of the sink. Now I was on eye level with her, a bit taller. Then we continued kissing. I wrapped my arms around her neck and played with her hair, my legs wrapped around her torso.
Her tongue played with mine for a while, before we pulled apart, out of breath, with puffed out lips.
She put her forehead on mine. And we breathed out from our lips.
"That was so sexy," I say. She chuckles.
"You were sexy." She admits. "You should do that more often?"
She stepped back and helped me down. I hugged her, and then looked up. "I love you, and only you."
She smirks. "I know, and I'm sorry about ignoring you."
I shrugged. "No, don't apologize. Trust me, you ignoring me just made you way hotter. I just wanted you."
"Wanted me?" She hums. "You already have me, babe."
Hearing her say babe made me feel grateful for coming out.
"That's not what I meant." I gave her a smirk of my own. I pulled away and walked backwards towards the door. "Let me know when you figure it out."
I leave the kitchen and go into the break room.
As I'm putting on my jacket, she comes in a rush. "I want you too."
And I smile, because I know.
