The Truth About Forever  {Chapter Two}

Period 4, Gym

I hadn’t planned on confronting Trisha or Seth about anything. My plan was just to keep all the feelings hidden. We went on our usual lunch routine. After we were done eating, we would all go on to the football field and just fool around for a while.

Obviously, no one detected the pain I was feeling, because my friends were the shallowest of people you would ever meet (naming Trisha, of course).

Seth was playing football with Michael, James, Rich, and Dominic, the usual gang. Trisha was filling me in about this new lip gloss she saw on Seventeen. I couldn’t care less, seriously. I just kept nodding to everything she said.

"Charissa, I think I like Michael. A lot," Trisha says to me.

A feeling of annoyance immediately flickers automatically in my body, Trisha always brought out the worse in me somehow.

You just want to sleep with him.

"Oh, really?"

"Yes," Trisha rolls her eyes at me, continuing to file her nails, "Really. I mean he is so hot. Have you checked him out? God, those abs."

"I'm sorry but for your information, I have a boyfriend."

"Sometimes I feel so sorry for Seth, you and your mood swings all the time. Why do you have to be so damn cranky? I was just trying to tell you about how I feel. I didn't need you to yell at me," Trisha snaps at me.

I wanted to just slap her hard across the face. Does she hear herself right now? How on earth am I yelling at her?

"Whatever, we should call the guys and get going. Class is about to start."

We went our separate ways, Trisha off to Maths, Seth off to English with the rest of his gang. It only left Michael and me. Our time tables were pretty much the exact same except for a few classes. Ironic, isn’t it?

“So, how long have you been dating Seth?” Michael pops into the awkward silence.

I wasn’t planning to answer or even talk to him in the first place, but guessing that he Seth’s best bud, I had to give him some respect. He was part of our elite group now.

“Five years,” I almost whisper to him.

“Woah, five freakin’ years?”

I kind of give him this retarded snort-laugh, then letting silence fall between us again. Was it my turn to think of a conversation starter?

“Uh, Michael, do you mind if I ask you something a little… weird?”

“I guess I don’t really have a choice?” He smirks my direction, a small dimple appearing on his pretty lips. I was ashamed to admit it, but this guy was pretty damn gorgeous.

“You don’t have to answer if you’re uncomfortable,” I mumble.

“I’m just kidding,” he laughs to himself, “Go on ahead.”

“What did Seth mention about Trish?” The sentence escapes my mouth almost immediately, my mind not exactly thinking. I just couldn’t contain my feelings. Michael was my last hope to know about what actually happened during the summer. Did they actually… betray me like that?

“Clarisse…”

“You don’t have to tell me, really,” I look down at the floor.

“I know I should, but before I do… know that Seth loves you,” Michael says.
