sun-chasing~
"What are we? Five?"
A long pause was heard.
"Of course I wanna go sun-chasing!" the (a/t) smiled. "Good, I thought for a second you were gonna leave me alone here!" Sonic laughed.
"What are you waiting for???" the girl questioned her friend standing still. "Let's go!" the (a/t) snapped her fingers to get the hedgehog's attention. He was zoning out. Again.
"Geez, going! Sorry." he caught up to his friend, who was already walking towards the sunset, pretty quickly. They both walked in silence for a while. Not the awkward type of quiet, but the type where you admire the same scene in different ways. "So..." he starts to strike up a conversation, but he's too busy admiring the sunset.
"So what?" the girl asks. "What is your favorite type of sunset?" Sonic finally asked. "Whaddya mean?" she looked over at him. "Well, do you like the ones that make you feel as if you're in one of those coming-of-age movie scenes or the ones that cover the atmosphere with golden light and make ya feel like everything will be ok. Like everything is on your side."
"Wow, I didn't know you were this poetic. I mean, it's poetic only coming from you. You never say this typa stuff." (y/n) smiled at her friend. He smiled back warmly. "I know, I know." he went back to looking up at the sky.
"To answer your question, my favorite ones are the ones that make you feel like everything else will resolve itself. Warm and summer afternoon-like."Sunset chasing was fun for both of them. She would never admit it openly and he would always be up for a new adventure. As they turned from one street to another in the suburbian neighborhood they were now in, the sun set further.
"Her eyes look really pretty in the sunlight..." he whispered to himself, loud enough for her to hear. "Oh I know, right? If I do say so myself!" (y/n) nudged Sonic. "Y-you weren't supposed to hear that!!" he looked at the floor. "It's ok. I did any way." (y/n) looked over at him.
"And whose to say your don't? They look... radiant... in the sun." she tried getting to him. Once he looked at her again, they traded smiles. They also traded jackets.
"Your's looks fuzzier than mine!" (y/n) argued. "And that why I wanna keep it on!" Sonic teased. "Alright, I'll just sit here and be all cold." the girl pouted jokingly. They were sitting down now, as the sun was almost set and past the mountains' horizon.
"Oh, fine..." he took his jacket off. "It was sort of a joke..." she said, but they still wore each other's jacket.
His jacket smells like he does. Like... fresh grass and... well him.
Her jacket smells so good. What does she put on it? Perfume? Well, whatever it is, it smells like flowers and... her.
"We should get started on walking home, (y/n). It's pretty much completely dark now..." Sonic suggested. He got up from his spot and put his hand out towards her. "Care for a hand, m'lady?" he grinned. She slyly smiled and put her hand in his to get up.
"That was ridiculous. In a good way." the girl spoke. "It was supposed to be." the hedgehog looked up at the sky again.
"I'm cold. Is it just me?" he asked, zipping the jacket all the way up. "I'm cold too." she said, putting the jacket's hoodie up. "Well, hugs help keep people warm, right?" he smiled while looking to the side. "Y-yeah..." she responded, somewhat flustered.
They both kept warm by putting one arm around the other's shoulders and the other hand in a jacket pocket.
"Sun chasing was fun, don't cha think?" she asked him. "Yeah, it was." they traded smiles again. And jackets again too, as they headed their separate ways.
