Prologue

The clock struck midnight, echoing throughout a small cramped kitchen in an apartment in Auckland.

"We must hurry," A male voice urged "We don't have much time."

"You're right of course, but it's hard to say goodbye..."

The figures were nothing more than shadows, silhouettes flickering around the edges of a newborn Childs eyes

"I know, we'll see her again though. This is for the best. No-one knows we have her, Mar, this way she's safe."

The woman-who's name seemed to be Mar-nodded.

Footsteps echoed in the small space.

A comforting hand landed on a shoulder and squeezed reassuringly.

"Don't worry Mar, she'll be safe. We'll see her and explain everything. One day, one day she'll understand."


And with that, the two figures left.


And the baby began to cry.
