Book One: Spartan Isabella Bluestar

Chapter Eight: ONI makes a Spartan V

"Sir, I apologize, but you can't be serious." Says Lasky as he speaks with an ONI officer.

"I am serious. I and other high-ranking officers are aware of Miss Bluestar's relations to a once believed to be MIA Spartan 2. We can't allow such a valuable asset to go to waste."

"Sir, Miss Bluestar is still a child. She should be allowed to choose." Lasky argues.

"But you and the Admiral where ware of her family and left her in the care of the only Spartan 2s that we know are alive. Claiming it as an exercise "for possible future assignments with civilians"." Sneers the ONI officer. "I will admit I am impressed by how long we were fooled."

Lasky glares and goes, "Sir with all due respect, the Spartan 2s of Blue Team are her illegal guardians. Admiral Hood has already made it so a long time ago. And becoming a Spartan is her choice to make."

"You and I both know that she will get no choice." The ONI officer replies smugly.

After that the transmission is cut. Lasky sighs softly remembering that Admiral Hood had said that once ONI found out there was going to be nothing they can do. But maybe there is. At the very least he can give Blue Team and Isabella a heads up. Because while Lasky and Hood's hands are tied, Blue Team's hands aren't, or rather they shouldn't be.

Lasky walks down the halls of Infinity. He heads straight for Blue Team's quarters. He is already dreading the angry auras of the Spartan 2s. But he sucks up a breath and walks with purpose.

He enters the quarters knocking on the wall to alert them of his presence. The only one he sees is Chief. The Spartan stands at attention, saluting him.

"At ease Chief." He says. "I'm guessing that Isabella is asleep?"

"She is sir. Need me to wake her?"

"No, it's alright." Lasky says. "Just that they know."

"How?" Asks Kelly walking over from her room after having changed.

"I am not sure. But they know. ONI officer True spoke with me just a few minutes ago. He informed me that they intend on making Isabella the first Spartan 5 given her age."

"But she's still a child." Kelly rages as John grabs her shoulder.

"And like before they could care less." Says Linda joining the conversation.

"We all knew this was going to happen." Isabella says standing in the doorway of John's room. "If ONI is still the same as they where back during the Spartan 2s, then they are going to nab me while you guys are out on a mission."

"Sounds like them." Fred comments.

"Did you want to become a Spartan at all?" Lasky asks.

"A little, but still was thinking it over." Isabella says.

A month later, right after Isabella's thirteenth birthday, ONI Officer True arrived on Infinity. He didn't get a warm welcome from the crew that was for sure. In fact the crew, bless their souls, did everything they could to slow him down. Basically the crew acts like it is a very busy day with not a lot of time to get things done. True seems to believe them and waits for the path to clear.

He still makes it to where Isabella is. Which is on the bridge talking with Lasky, Palmer, and Roland about something. True walks in with his guards with a victorious smile on his face. Isabella glares growling as Palmer stands between them. However True has one of his guards, throws an armor restraint onto Palmer and the other guard restrains Lasky.

The guard that threw the armor restraint comes and grabs Isabella. She resists and proceeds to throw the guard over her shoulder. She pins down the guard keeping him from moving. True begins clapping as she sends him her best death glare.

"Marvelous. Absolutely marvelous." He says. "You're better than I expected."

"Think very carefully Officer True. Once Blue Team finds out do you really think anyone is going to be willing to protect you from them?" Isabella asks.

"This is for the greater good Miss Bluestar." Officer True argues.

"And now I understand why my father left the UNSC. He left because he couldn't handle ONI's bullshit!" Isabella snaps.

Officer True walks over and grabs her by her shirt forcing her off his guard and says, "Watch your mouth girl."

He tosses her back to his hard who now has a firmer grip on her. Officer True salutes Lasky before leaving with Isabella.

Serval months later Isabella returns to Infinity. She expected to see her aunts and uncles waiting for when she got off the Pelican. However, they weren't there. Undoubtedly where deployed on another mission. ONI wouldn't let her or Blue Team be in contact with the other. Officer True who watched over her Spartan training, said that they were a distraction, and she would see them again as a reward.

"Reward" her ass. For someone with the last name of "True" he is nothing but a liar. A lair and very manipulative. She made it her mission to annoy him as much as possible with her questions even she got smacked for her. She didn't regret it. She wanted him to know that she was not some robot following its programing or a dog doing tricks for a treat.

And when she got the augmentation injection, it turns out that they didn't inject the normal amount. She doesn't know why. However, she figures it may be because of her father, maybe his augmentation had somehow been passed down through genetics or because she's still a teenager. Also, after the injection she keeps feeling weird. Still roughly skinny compared to most Spartans but she feels heavier.

Walking off the Pelican she sees Roland pop up.

"Welcome back Spartan Bluestar." He says trying to make her feel better.

"Good to be back Roland. Is Commander Palmer coming to show me around?"

"She and Captain Lasky both." Roland nods.

One que, Captain Lasky and Commander Palmer arrive. They spend walk toward her.

"It's good to have you back Isabella."

"Thank you, sir. How have you been?"

"Worried." Lasky answers getting a smile from Isabella.

"Sorry sir. The bastard forbad contact outside of the base. For me anyway." Isabella answers.

"That was his way of punishing Infinity for trying to keep you a secret." Palmer comments angrily. "Anyway let's get you something to eat and then to your room. Blue Team should be back in a few days."

"What mission are they on?" Isabella asks.

"Recon." Lasky answers.

"How lovely. Auntie Kelly must be going stir crazy." Isabella comments.
