McLeach X Reader - Pt 1

"Wow! That was great, wasn't it, (Name)?" Cody asked with excitement. You nod, and continue to walk through the forest, keeping a close eye on him. "Yes, it was. It's sad what happened to Marahute's mate though." You said, and Cody looks up to you, "Yeah. It is." He says.

'Ding, ding, ding!'

You both stop in place, "Hey, do you hear that?" Cody asks. You look down at him, and before you could answer, he runs towards the direction of the noise. "Cody!" You shout, nearly panicking, and run after him. After a minute of chasing him, you hear,

"Hey, little fella. What happened to you?"

It was Cody! You see ahead that he was kneeling in front to what looked like a mouse, tied up in a little rope, and as you get close, you saw that there was a bell attached to the plant.

Wait, a bell? OH NO!

You sprinted towards him, and just as you stepped on the patched ground, it falls apart, making you and Cody fall into the ground. You stood up quickly, and looked down to Cody, who was shaking the dirt off of him. "Are you okay?" You asked, only to get a groan as a response. Just then, the sound of something beeping could be heard. You looked up and saw a device with a red light blinking. As soon as you saw that, you left eyes widened, and your heart dropped.

This is a trap! Made by poachers!

You were now worried for Cody, trying to figure out how to get out of here, when Cody says, "That's great! Just a little more, a little further." You turned your head to see a vine coming down. You smiled, remembering how he talks to animals. "Got it!" He says. You went up behind him, and tell him, "You get up first. I'll stay behind in case you fall." You said. He nods, and proceeds to climb while watching him closely.

But all of the sudden, the ground began to shake. You knew it wasn't an earthquake, because you can hear the sound of an engine being ran from the distance. It became stronger, and you prepare yourself to catch Cody, just in case the vine snaps.

Sure enough, the sound of a roaring engine got closer, and you see a big wheel quickly turn, and run over the vine, which snapped, and Cody falls. You caught him, put him down, and motion him to get behind you. He does so, and you quickly take out your machete. Just then, the sound of an engine stopped. It was now uncomfortably quiet.

Just then, the head of a Goanna pops out of nowhere, letting out a loud hiss. Cody screams, and you swing your machete towards it.

"GET BACK!" You angrily shout, making the Goanna recoil, and stare at you with fear. But then, you hear a man's voice.

"Well, Joanna, what'd we get today? A Dingo? A fat ol' Razorback?" The voice came closer, and that's when you saw him. A man, wearing usual hunting attire, holding a gun, getting ready to fire. "Or a nice... big... boy?" He lowers his gun, and looks to Cody confused. But as soon as he saw you, he starts smiling. "Hehe. And a pretty little lady too." He chuckled, making you feel funny. 'What the heck? Why did my heart skip a beat when he said that?' You thought, but then snapped out of it, and point your machete towards him.

Then, he frowns, and looks to now you know her name, Joanna, who was growling at both of you. That is, until she lets out a surprised yelp as he kicks her, making her jump, and fall on her side, and yells, "Joanna, have you been digging holes out here again!?"
