Madeline slightly peered through the curtain for the dozenth time, her eyes searching the crowd for any sign of her parents or her sister. Sadness filled her eyes when she saw neither of her them had yet arrived. The show hadn't started yet, but the chatter of the crowd and the constant hassle before any show was only increasing her nervousness. The fact that none of her family members had shown up was adding to the list of worries she had at the moment.
They'll be here. She told her self. They know how important this is to me.
She had been given the lead role of Giselle. When she first learned about it, Madeline shrieked so loud that her twin sister Elena ran into her room with a slipper in her hand, thinking it was a cockroach.
" Hey Partner."
She turned around to see her smiling redhead friend with whom she had been dance partners/ friends for the past seven years.
" Trevor !" she greeted him and the two did a set of complicated handshake.
It was their pre ritual before any show. Madeline had never been the one to believe in superstitions , but she did believe that doing the handshake brought good luck.
" You don't look nervous." she pointed out.
" Eh. Tonight's just a piece of cake." he said nonchalantly and immediately widened his eyes as if to remember something.
" Speaking of which I remember keeping cake in the fridge." he turned around and began running towards the vanity rooms whilst shouting,
" IF YOU TOUCH MY CAKE THIS TIME CYNTHIA, I WILL KILL YOU !"
Madeline chuckled and shook her head remembering the last time when Cynthia had eaten his share of cake. Trevor was furious. He had dropped her three times, claiming that his body had been weakened because somebody had eaten his cake.
Madeline rubbed her sweaty palms as she walked back to the vanity room, checking if her costume was alright.
A cerulean blue bodice perfectly hugged her body as the white undershirt could barely be felt. The puffy sleeves rested delicately on her shoulders and the pastel blue skirt flowed down till her mid thighs. Her hair were in a tight bun but Madeline kept fidgeting with the bobby pins, trying to loosen the tung they had on her hair so that it would be easier for her to open her hair, when the time arrived for her to do so.
" Madeline !" a familiar voice rang out as the girl turned to see her blonde and brunette best friends standing by the door way.
" Care Bear ! Bon Bon !" she ran over to them, engulfing the two girls in a hug.
