Chapter 1- A New Beginning

I was sitting on a plane stuck between a man who wouldn't stop snoring and a woman with a crying baby. None of this really bothered me though.

All I could think about was how crazy my life had become in the past two days. Going from being a foster kid to finding out you had a celebrity dad could pretty much blow your mind.

My life had been tough and I had just been looking forward to my 18th birthday when I could leave the foster care system. My mom had died from childbirth and no one ever knew who my father was, well at least not until two days ago. I was bought out of my daze when the pilot came on the intercom telling us to prepare for landing.

Shortly after that, we landed and he came back on the intercom telling us that we could get off the plane. I couldn't get rid of the butterflies in my stomach as I walked down the aisle on the plane.

I almost tripped down the steps, but was caught by a handsome young man. "You okay?" he asked.

"Yeah I'm fine, thanks for catching me. I'm so clumsy sometimes," I told him.

"No problem, I'm Ethan by the way." Ethan reached out to shake my hand and I told him my name was Kelly.

I noticed he looked like a normal Californian with blond hair, tan skin, and piercing blue eyes. We chatted about normal things as we walked to get our luggage.

"Well it was nice to meet you Kelly, have a good trip," Ethan said. Then he disappeared into the busy crowded airport. It was sad knowing I would probably never see him again, but I wasted no time grabbing my luggage knowing the moment I had nervously been anticipating for two days was about to happen.

As I rode down the escalator, I saw a man holding up a sign with my name. Never in a million years had I dreamed that I would have a driver waiting to take me to my celebrity dad's mansion. It was so surreal.

"Nice to meet you Miss. Roberts, I'm Michael." He took my bags and headed for the limo. "Your dad wanted to be here himself, but he didn't realize his manager had scheduled an interview for this morning. He sent me to get you and take you back to the house."

Michael opened the door for me and put my stuff in the back. The drive from the airport only took about 10 minutes. We pulled up to the security gate for the housing development and Michael put in a code. We turned down a few roads and pulled up to the house. It was the biggest house I had ever seen. It was made of bricks and had huge windows. As soon as I got out of the car, I heard the house door slam and saw a woman and two kids come out.

"It's so lovely to finally meet you!" the woman said as she grabbed me and gave me a bear hug.

I instantly recognized her as my dad's wife or as the world knew her, singer and songwriter, Jessica Moore. With her long gorgeous brunette hair, emerald green eyes, and a perfect complexion it was no wonder she was famous. Oh and did I mention she had the voice of an angel.

"We have been looking forward to this ever since we have known about you, which is kind of a long story that I will let your father explain if you don't mind. Let's go inside and I will show you your room." She ushered for me to follow her inside.

Whenever I walked inside I glanced around and if I thought the outside was amazing then there was no words to describe how the inside looked. There were pictures and decorations everywhere and even though the house looked huge it seemed to have a homey feeling.

We walked up some stairs, a long hallway, pass about a thousand rooms, and finally stopped at one of them. "This one is all yours, make yourself at home, unpack, and then come downstairs and I will give you a tour of the house. Like I said before, we are so happy to have you here." Jessica flashed me a big smile and then disappeared down the hallway with her two kids trailing after her.

Getting a better look around the room, I noticed that they had put effort into trying to make the bedroom look like something a teenage girl would like. The breadspread was zebra printed, there were several magazines spread out across the bed side table, and they even had my name in decorative letters on the wall. What really caught my eye was what looked like a letter lying on the desk.

In big crooked, hard to read letters it said, "To Kelly my new big sister." There was a picture of a mom, dad, little boy, teenage girl, baby, and a dog. Below the picture it said, love your brother Tyler. I almost started crying from the happiness I felt. After all this time, I couldn't believe I might have such a nice, loving, welcoming family.

I started to unpack, but got distracted when I looked out the window. Since the house was ocean front the view was breathtaking. The sun glistened on the sand as the waves crashed to the shore. The beach was seclued, very few people were on the beach and in the water. Being from Colorado, this weather and scenery was not normal to me.

It amazed so I took a moment to take it all in. I had to admit being in Malibu had its perks. Startled by a knock on the door, I turned around never expecting to see who I did.
