Chapter four: BEAST!
i woke up to Jay knocking on my door lightly.
" Cathy, get up, i made breakfast." i sat up quickly and grabbed my alarm clock. 6:30! i got out of bed and threw on my black yoga pants that probably fit a little too well, and a yellow Tee shirt. i brushed my hair and opened my door to see Jay standing there in a tux and a plate of eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns. i stared at him blankly.
" a tux? Breakfast brought to me? who the hell died?"
" no one. i have to go to work 'till really late tonight, and i thought it would be nice to have a hot breakfast." Jay explained, putting the plate in my hands. it smelt delicious, my mouth watered. i gave him a grateful smile, and watched him walk away.
" you know, you really shoul where a tux more often. Maybe get yourself a wife one of these days. i could use an aunt." i said to his back, and i saw is shoulders move in a laughing pattern.
" you sound like my mother, Cathy."

school again. Well, at least this time i had some friends, if i could call them that. i had Howard, Tracey, Jenny and Matt. not the kind of group i would have usually hung around in Vancouver, but then again, there weren't really people like that in Vancouver. i mean, Tracey, i could tell we would be good friends. and Howard, well, i'll have to see about him.
a shrill noise filled the air, signaling that school was starting. i walked into the school, up to my locker and shoved all my stuff in, only taking out the stuff i needed for first period. walking by myself toward the right class this time, a piece of paper flew from one of my books and out behind me. i froze and pivoted on my heel, trying to see where it went. it was lying on the ground near a garbage can, next to the two gym doors. i jogged over and picked it up in one swift movement, just in time to be knocked over by the opening door. i tumbled to the floor, all my stuff now sprawled all over the hall. luckily most kids were already in class.
" hey, so sorry-"
" it's fine." i mumbled at some guy, i didn't check to see who, and picked all of my stuff up, then bolted toward class. i made it in just as everyone was sitting down. i managed to score a seat next to Howard. "hey." i greeted him breathlessly.
" damn, you should be breathless all the time. why didn't i see you this-"
" late again, i see, Mrs.Lochart. i'm hoping i won't see a pattern this term, will i?"
" no Mr. Richards." i hated Darold Richards. he's my homeroom teacher, and i was NOT looking forward to spending my high school years anywhere near him. he was a disgusting perv, according to Tracey. Howard chuckled next to me, and i gave him a light shove.
" no, Mr. Richards" he mimicked in a high pitched voice which sounded nothing like me. i gave him the best glare i could. he put up his hands in surrender. " hey, calm down, i was just kidding. Jeez, if looks could kill..."
" i suggest you shut up, Howard." Tracey said, laughing. i turned around, startled. when did she get here?
" hey Tracey." i whispered, so Mr. party pooper couldn't hear.
" hey" she mumbled back.

the rest of the day had gone pretty much like that. i saw Matt in biology, and i saw Jenny in P.E, and the hung out with them at lunch. a pretty boring day, but at least i now had something to do this weekend;
" hey, Catherine, right?" a voice asked from behind me. i turned to see a shortish looking male with chest nut hair and dark brown eyes. he smiled at me, and handed my a folded piece of paper." you should come to my party this weekend. Tracey said you needed to loosen up a little." the boy told me, with a wink." my name's Chase." and he just walked away.
so, those are my plans. i am going to my first ever party in Victoria B.C. actually, it was my first party in a few months. i didn't really get out much when i was at my old school. everyone was kind of exclusive, and therefore the only parties i got invited to were those of my close friends. but i don't like to think of them much, they're the reason i lost my favourite pare of shoes and pants in the bottom of the pacific ocean. long story.
i got home early today, due to me remembering bus fair and catching a bus home. it was packed full, up until my stop. there was no one on the bus, for my stop was the last on the bus drivers root. that's what i get for living in the middle of a forest.
it was surprisingly warm out today. warm enough to try taking a swim in the lake outside. i put on my bathing suit, then thought better of it, and put a long short sleeved shirt on over top. i walked over to the deepest part, which was by the huge rock ledge. i climbed up the hill, then stared out at my house. Jay's house. our house. it was beautiful. the trees surrounded the property so perfectly, the grass and sand so utterly solid looking.
i jumped in. the water flooded around me, and it was pure bliss. i swam up to the surface to take a breath, pushing the hair from my face. i inhaled deeply, the chilly air sliced through my throat. all around, mist hovered above the water, like steam. i realized the mist was because the water was warmer then the air. Jay must have some sort of heating system. this was really just a big pool that looked like a pond, or lake.
" i see you figured out my secret." Jay yelled from the backyard. i smiled.i then realized there was someone behind him, a muscled figure. i swam back to the rocks, and hid under one, letting only my nose and eyes out of the water. my shirt was weighing me down, so i quickly shrugged it off under water. " hey Cathy? where'd you go? Cathy?"Jay looked around, saw me, but made no show of it. he seemed to realize i was hiding from the company. " oh well," he said, " she'll probably come out once we go inside."

20 minutes later, i came out. i made sure to stay close to the rocks, so no one would see me in a bikini. ugh, i really needed to buy a new bathing suit. or at least some board shorts.
