As much as I loved Professor Mcgonagall, writing the essays she sets us was always a pain to do. So like any person, I always did them with a friend so they didn’t seem so boring. Gracie had already completed hers, for once I didn’t have a clue where Charlie was and Adam was probably with him. That left Tonks so here the two of us were and after three hours of writing I was finally finished. We’d rather do it now than over halloween break.

“Then I said that it led to an increase in people going to Azkaban as they were not registering themselves.” I recited part of one of my paragraphs for Tonks, who was just finishing her conclusion.

She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted as Gracie kicked her feet off the coffee table in front of us and took a seat on it. “It’s been confirmed, nine o’clock tomorrow night.” She beamed as though it was the best thing ever.

“Yes! This is perfect.” Tonks threw her transfiguration paper onto the cousin beside her, knowing what Gracie was talking about whereas I had no idea. “This is exactly what you need after that asshole.” She continued.

Tonks was referring to just over a week ago when none other than Cole Simpson cheated on me, had the audacity to think I was taking him back, called me a slut and accused me of sleeping with both Charlie and Bill behind his back. Yet I still didn’t know what it was that I apparently needed.

They both must have picked up on my confusion as Gracie explained. “Ravenclaw is throwing a party for halloween tomorrow night where you get into costume and everything before most of us go home for half term. And I know that’s what house Cole is in but I still think it will be good for you.”

My friends were right, it sounded like exactly what I needed. Cole has been everywhere recently, smiling at me across the classroom, walking near me in the halls and I’ve lost count of how many times a first or second year has told me he’s outside the common room looking for me.

I just want to forget about him.

“You're both right, it will be. I just want to have fun and forget about him tomorrow night. But can we please go as Donna and the Dynamos.” I begged them.

“Well obviously who else were we going to go as, I dibs Tayna though.” Tonks got in there first before Gracie said she wanted to be Rosie, leaving me with Donna which I was not disappointed with.

We were in the middle of planning our costumes when the portrait door swung open revealing Adam and Charlie. “Hey are you two going to the party tomorrow night?” Gracie asked and as the pair emerged into better light I was able to see Charlie’s face more clearly.

“What the hell happened to you?” I questioned, the growing concern evident on my face. There was a cut on his lip and a bruise beginning to form around his left eye.
“Yeah we are but I’ll miss most of it, I’ve got detention for this.” He pointed to his face, “and then I’ll need to get changed afterwards.”

“What did you do?” Tonks asked as I backed her up, “yeah I’m wondering that myself.”

He shrugged and subtly shook his head at Adam, indicating for him not to say anything. “It doesn’t matter.”

“Well your lip is bleeding and you need to put ice on that eye so come on.” I grabbed his wrist and dragged him up to my dorm, asking a third year to get me an ice pack on the way.
