Heartbreaking.

If someone asked me to use one word to describe the scene around me that’s the one I would choose.

The battle isn’t even over yet and the Weasley’s had already lost one of their own. Molly and George were crouched down on the ground, crying over Fred’s body.

Everyone was standing in pairs, Arthur with Percy, Bill with Fleur and Charlie with me, godric only knows where Ron is.

“I’m so sorry.” I whispered to my boyfriend, he just squeezed me tighter.

Seeing that Ginny was standing in a state of shock on her own, I opened up one of my arms and motioned her to come over. Making the hug a group between three.

Eventually Ron did appear with Hermione and Harry at his side.

That was even more heartbreaking, to watch another weasley fall apart at Fred’s death.

A few days later:

The funeral is today.

Charlie and I had decided to take some time off work and stay with everyone else at the Burrow.

The past few days have been really hard on everybody. I have been trying my best to be there for my boyfriend and his family while mourning the loss of a friend too.

When I first was introduced to the Weasley’s Fred, George and I instantly hit it off and I considered them both good friends. But I knew Fred meant more to the Weasley’s than he could ever mean to me.

So I did what I could, I kept the burrow as tidy as I could, I made sure people had eaten and I comforted whoever needed it.

“How are you feeling about today?” I asked Charlie in a quiet voice, wrapping my arms around his torso and leaning my head on his upper back.

He shook his head. “I don’t want to go because… because,” he couldn’t get the words out and I could see in the mirror in front of him how a tear had escaped his eye.

Moving around to face him, it was my turn to shake my head. “It’s okay, I know, I know.” I repeated gently, reaching up to wipe his tears away.

“Thank you for everything you’ve been doing around here.” He said, leaning into my embrace.

“Don’t thank me, there’s no need.” I replied.

“Could you umm… could you check in on Ginny for me please?” He asked me after a couple of minutes of me rubbing soothing circles on his back.

I grabbed my shoes before going across the hallway and knocking on Ginny’s door. She was finding things especially difficult since Fred’s passing. She would never say it out loud but she was the closest to Fred out of all her brothers, it was just an unsaid truth.

When I knocked on her bedroom door there was no answer. I knocked for a second time, there was no answer. “Gin, it’s me. I’m coming in.” This time I just pushed open the door slightly and poked my head around to see her lying on her bed in floods of tears.

Quickly, I closed the door and rushed to sit by her side. “It’s going to be okay.” I cooed as she sobbed into her pillow.

“No it’s not. I shouldn’t have agreed to speak today. I can’t do it.” She cried. I tucked strands of her hair behind her ear.
