Cutting away the shirt allowed us to see the metal that was impaling her. The metal sticking out of her spine. We all just stared in shock.

"Alright." Ben was the first one to speak, bringing us back to reality.  "Vic, just do the same thing you did at the front, stabilize it as best as you can. Andy, keep holding her head and radio someone, we need tools to cut the extra metal before we can move her".

"What are you going to do?" Vic asked him.

"Call Miranda so she can have everyone ready as soon as we get her to Grey Sloan." He paused. "And so she can tell Carina"

Andy, into her radio "we need another set of hands and tools in here"
"Herrera we have 2 other patients, Bishop already has 3 people and the only aid car on standby. You can't have all the resources" Beckett replied.
"He cannot be serious, does he not realize this is one of our own"
"What's the ETA on more aid cars then?"
"Closest one should be 10 minutes"

"Warren, what do you think?" I ask
"It will probably take at least that long to get her ready for transport"

"Send one of them in the aid car but we need someone else in here and we need tools! Travis get in here!"

Travis joined us in the back of the wrecked aid car with tools to cut the metal.
"Where do you need me?" He asked
"We need to cut the metal as short as we can on both sides without moving it"

Ben POV
They started working on the metal while I keep bagging her and get my phone out.

"Ben? Is everything ok? You don't usually call on shift"
"I need you to prep a trauma room and an OR and get Shepherd, Link, Hunt and Grey ready for a patient. We should be there in about 20 minutes."
"Ben, slow down. What are we prepping for?"
"MVC, seems to have rolled multiple times. Penetrating trauma to the abdomen exiting the back, seems to be going through the spine, unconscious for the past 30 minutes at least, intubated about 10 minutes ago. Large laceration to the head and possible c-spine injury"
"Ok, I'll get everyone ready. Call me again when you're almost here and we'll meet you outside."
"Ok. Also, you need to find Carina and call someone else in to cover her."
"Is the patient pregnant?"
"No... it's Maya"

10 minutes later- Andy POV
We've got the metal cut and have done as much as we can for her, now we need to get her to the hospital. Which means moving her.

"How are we going to transport her? We can't lay her on a backboard with this metal sticking out of her back but we need to immobilize her so we don't make anything worse" Vic asks, saying exactly what I was thinking.

We all start trying to come up with ideas.
"We've put patients on their side on a backboard before, do we just do that?" Travis asks.
"Not patients with suspected spinal injuries, we'd risk paralyzing her!" Ben replied, not saying the part we're all thinking- if she isn't already.

"I have an idea." I say. "What if we cut a hole in the backboard for the metal to go through, then we can still strap her in. We can go through 2 and tie them together if we need more depth so we can put her on a gurney without putting pressure on it"
"Yes, do it." Ben says

Vic and Travis get to work figuring out where to cut and cutting the holes while Ben and I keep holding her.
"Andy, look" Ben says
I'm holding her head from behind so I lean over her to see her face. Her eyes are moving, it looks like she's waking up.
"One of you take over for me" I call to Vic and Travis. Travis comes over and takes her head, I move so I'm in front of her where she could see me. She opens her eyes.

"Hey Maya, don't try to move ok. The aid car crashed, we're gonna get you to the hospital."
She's starting to cry, I don't know if it's from pain or fear.
"I'm right here, and Warren and Hughes and Montgomery. We're all right here, we've got you. Vic's gonna give you some meds to help you relax while we move you and we're gonna take you to the hospital. Warren already called Bailey, Carina's going to be there meet you in the ER"
Her eyes lite up when I said Carina's name.
"Ya, you'll see Carina soon"
I kept talking to her until her eyes closed again from the meds Vic gave her.

"Ok, let's move. Are the backboards ready?" I say
"We just need to tie them together and get her on it" Travis says

5 minutes later Warren and I were in the back of the aid car that had just arrived with her, heading to Grey Sloan. Ben got out his phone and called Bailey again to tell her we're on the way.

At Grey Sloan- General POV
The aid car pulled up to the ER and everyone came out to meet them.

"Maya Bishop, 32, penetrating trauma to the abdomen, possible head and spinal injuries. She regained consciousness briefly before we sedated her" Ben said as they opened the back. We carefully got her out and all went inside.
"We cut through 2 backboards and tied them together to allow for the metal, careful when you move her" Andy told everyone.

Ben pulled Amelia aside as they brought Maya into a trauma room.
"When she woke up, we couldn't do a neuro assessment because she was intubated and with her other injuries but... She opened her eyes and was looking at Andy when she talked to her and she recognized Carina's name but she wasn't moving at all or fighting the intubation" he quietly told her, making sure Carina wasn't close enough to hear them.
"Ok, Bailey said you suspected spinal injuries in her back and possibly her neck. What did you see?" She asked
"The metal that impaling her seems to be exiting right through her spine and when we found her her neck was at a bad angle and she was barely breathing"
"Ok, I'll do everything I can for her" and she joined everyone else in the trauma room leaving me to join Andy and Carina waiting outside the doors.
"She's a fighter, she'll pull through this" Andy said, trying to comfort Carina and herself.
"She said there was a storm, she told me to be careful and not drive if it was bad, I told her to be safe" Carina said while crying

The doors to the trauma room opened and Hunt stuck his head out
"Carina..."
