After lunch, all four of them had a free period. James, as always, wanted to spend it on the quidditch pitch.

"Hey, do you want me to teach you some more sign?" Remus whispered to sirius while they were deciding on wether they were going with james or not.

Sirius nodded.

"Eh, actually, james. Me and sirius are going to go to the dorm now." Remus said to the energetic boy.

"Alright, then it'll be me and you peter." James aid and nudged the shorter boy in the arm.

Sirius and remus headed up to the dorm with simple chatter.

"Alright, you remember the conversation we had last time right?" Remus asked.

"Yeah," sirius said a bit unsure.

Remus looked unimpressed at him, he signed something.

Sirius thought so hard that Remus was sure he could hear his head working.

"I don't know." Sirius sighed.

"Then I'll go over it again."

Regulus was still in the hospital wing.

When can i leave? He signed to madam pomfrey.

That sentence had been signed quite a lot the past week.

Soon.  She signed back. That was also signed a lot.

What does that mean? You say that a lot.  He signed in frustration.

Hopefully nothing more than a few days. She signed and watched regulus as his eyes lit up.

She was only worried that he would struggle during classes and with other students in the corridors.

All the teachers had been told to learn sign as well. But it would take a while until they managed to talk fluently enough to teach lessons while talking and signing.

So until then, well Regulus didn't know how it would be done.

But he was soooo sick of sitting on this bed all day.

Regulus noticed Madam Pomfreys thinking face. She'd crease her eyebrows and bite the inside of her cheek.

"What is it?" He said out loud. It was still weird not hearing his voice when he talked. It was weird not hearing anything for that matter.

She waved him of and left into her office. Regulus sighed.

He'd been given some schoolwork every now and then so he wouldn't be way far behind when he started classes again.

The transfiguration textbook was on the nightstand.

He put it in his lap and studied the pages he was told to write an essay about.

Animagus and werewolf transformations.

He took out a quill and some parchment.

Remus and sirius had been spending their entire free period on learning sign.

"No, like this," remus said and showed sirius the sign again.

"My brain is fried, i need a break." Sirius stood up.

"Alright." Remus walked over to the window. He picked up a book and a small box on the way there.

Sirius just assumed he was going to read, but he took out a lighter and a cigarette from the small pack.

"What's that?" He asked.

"I needed a break too." Remus said and looked out of the open window.

"Are you smoking?" Sirius asked.

Remus nodded and breathed out a puff of smoke as he visibly relaxed.

"How did you even get those?" Sirius asked.

"Some of the seventh years got stash and he rumors found its way to me." Remus said as if it was some sort of destiny.

Sirius stared a the other boy. Remus' face was lit by the light from the crescent moon hanging in sky outside the window.

As remus lips took another suck of the cigarette, sirius walked over and sat down next to him.

"Can i try?"
