Diluc x Reader
In this oneshot, you're a hydro bow user :))
Spicy level: Red bell peppers.
You dragged your feet along the dusty brown trail that led to Mondstadt. You were a well-known traveller from Liyue, and you were hoping to stop by the famous Angels Share to try a sip of their dandelion wine. As you continued to drag your feet along the path, the view of Mondstadt soon came into your vision. You grinned upon seeing the grey bricks piled high upon one another. You could feel a gentle breeze whip by you as it guided you to the entrance of Mondstadt.
"Wow, it's been so long since I've been here," You muttered to yourself as you walked along the bridge, scaring some pigeons along the way. Suddenly you heard a child cry out.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" You whipped your head around to see a little boy, pouting. You frowned as you faced him.
"What's wrong?" You asked. He pointed to where you were standing.
"You scared them off!"
"The pigeons? Well, I'm sure they'll come back soon. Here, take this," You said as you handed him a loaf of bread from your rations. His face lit up as he took your gift.
"Woah! Thank you!" He exclaimed as he grabbed the bread with eager hands. You smiled as you waved goodbye and headed towards the entrance of Mondstadt. But, just as you entered, the winds around you turned cold.
Strange, isn't Mondstadt supposed to be a happy place? You thought as you observed your surroundings. You walked towards Angels Share, noticing people nearby you whisper to one another. You shrugged your shoulders and soon found yourself in front of the Tavern. You opened the door to see a group of people by the bar, whispering about something.
"Um hello?" You asked as you approached them. They turned around. One of them appeared to be a little boy, he wielded a lyre and had green accents at the end of his braids. Another was a blonde woman, who appeared to be a knight of some sort. A man with a blue ponytail and black eyepatch grinned upon your entrance.
"Sh! Sit right here!" The blonde said as she ushered you to a seat next to you. You quickly took the seat, confused at her sudden harshness.
"What's the matter? Isn't this place supposed to be loud and fun?" You asked. The boy with pigtails hushed you as he put a finger to his lips, shaking his head. You nodded as you adverted your gaze back to the blonde.
"You must be a traveler, am I right?" She asked. You nodded your head. She pinched her nose, clearly annoyed.
"Do you know the owner of this tavern? And why we hushed you?" You shook your head. The blue-haired man chuckled as he took a sip from his drink.
"Why, he's my lovely brother," He said smirking at you. You tilted your head in confusion.
"Brother?" You asked. Jean shushed you.
"We don't talk about him here in Mondstadt,"
"Why?" The blonde cleared her throat.
"It was the day I was to become one of the highest ranks among the Knights of Favonious. But, as I was being crowned, he barged in during the ceremony and accused me of treason!" You gasped upon hearing this.
"Why would he?" The blue haired man smirked.
"He hates the knights, that's why," You adverted your gaze to him.
"What did he do to you?" He slammed his drink down on the counter.
"He framed me for murder of our father, therefore kicking me out of the knights,"
"Well if you're here, I'm assuming the charges didn't go through,"
"Yeah, but he forever ruined my reputation," You shivered as you turned to the boy with the lyre.
"What about you?"
"He broke the holy lyre in the church, and framed it upon me,"
"Why is he doing these horrific things?" You asked as you looked at the group. They shrugged their shoulders.
"Some say it's because the knights did nothing to protect his father," The blonde said.
"Some say an Abyss Mage took over him, he isn't the brother I once knew," The blue haired man said as he refilled his wine.
"I believe he's doing it to take down Mondstadt once and for all," The boy with the lyre said.
"So what does he look like? So I know to avoid him?" You asked.
"Six foot one," The blue haired man said.
"Red hair, as red as the fire found on his vision," The blonde said.
"When he comes for you, your future is as black as the coat he wears," The boy with the lyre said as he shivered. You bit your lip upon hearing their description of him.
"So, does he ever come around here?" Suddenly, the door to the tavern burst open. You whipped your head around to see the man who the group had described.
"Diluc," The group muttered in unison. Chills ran down your back as you watched the man walk behind the counter the group and you were sitting at.
"Leave," He said sternly. The group quickly got up and rushed out the door, leaving mora for their drinks on the counter. As you got up to follow them you heard his deep voice.
"Not you. You stay," You gulped as you turned around to face him. He had a emotionless expression painted on his face.
"Y-Yes?" You asked as you took a seat at the counter.
"I've never seen you around here. Are you from here?" You shook your head. Diluc frowned as he observed your hydro vision adorned around your neck.
"A traveler I presume?" He asked as he played with your vision in his hand. You nodded.
"Speak. I don't like it when people don't use their words,"
"Y-Yes. I'm from L-Liyue," You stuttered. Diluc sighed.
"You're staying here,"
"What?" You asked as you stood up from your seat shocked.
"I said, you're staying here," He said as he gripped your chin with his hand. You gulped. This couldn't be good.
