*TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of abuse*
I will put a ** next to where it begins and ends
Jotaro's POV
I made Y/N some tea and we sat at the table in the dining room. The table wasn't that big, but there was enough room for us to sit without being squished together. I waited for her to start speaking. She seemed to have a hard time finding what to say first. A few minutes went by and she started to talk.
"We used to be the best-est friends in the entire world. We would do everything together. We went to school together, played together, and even built stick and leaf statues from dawn till dusk. We were pretty much inseparable. I don't think there was really ever a time where we didn't do anything together. Even when you got a really bad fever that one year, I got mine right after. Everything was done in a pair whether our parents liked it or not. Then there was the year, right before you moved away, where your dad came home from his work." She gripped her cup a little tighter. I lowered my head and reached over the table to rub her shoulder. She smiled and wiped her eyes before she continued.

"Your dad returned from work late at night and when he walked through the door, he slammed it as hard as he could. It woke everyone up, including everyone in my house. I'm not sure if you remember, but your dad would usually go the bar after his concert sessions. I guess that night, he had a little too much to drink. He was never an alcoholic that we knew of. Holly never mentioned anything about him being violent." I could tell she needed a break. Having to remember something like this, it may have been to much of me to ask.
"You don't have to continue. We can always talk about this later." I stood up from my spot and moved to her side of the table. Maybe me sitting next to her would make her calmer. "No, no, it's okay. You have to know what happened back then. It's just hard explaining something like this without getting emotional." She was now crying, trying her best to wipe up each tear that fell. I reached over and wiped my thumb across her face. After I realized what I had done I pulled my arm back. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking. I-" "No, it's okay. It was actually very comforting." She grabbed a tissue a dabbed her cheeks. When she finished, she continued with the story.
"He started yelling at the top of his lungs, throwing things that were in his way, turning on all of the lights. It was something about you guys hiding something from him. I guess he eventually found you before he found your mom. I'm not exactly sure what he did, but we could hear your screams from a mile away. Of course, I ran out of my house, despite being deathly ill, and I didn't even bother going to wake my parents. We were only 13 at the time, so I didn't think to go and get my parents or call the police. I was determined to get you out of that house. I ran into your house and made a beeline to your room where you guys were at. I shoved him out of the way, grabbed your wrist, and we ran back to my house. I locked every door, I called the police, then woke my parents up. I'm not sure if anything happened to your mom, but my concern was your safety. I wish I would've went to help her, but I knew I was too small to even attempt something that mighty.
**
After all of that happened, your mom kicked your dad out. We didn't seem him for a couple months, but he came back because your mom forgave him. Of course, you being you, you cursed them both out and made sure they knew your thoughts about the situation. Neither of them liked your response, so you packed your necessities, got on a bus and I never saw you again until yesterday. I thought your mom threw out all of your belongings, but I guess it was just what you had left behind. However, I'm glad I found you again since it has been about ten or so years."
I didn't have any words. Hearing all of that was a lot for me to take in. Hearing her talk about it made me start to remember bits and pieces. I could remember feeling his grip on my wrists and the bed frame slamming into my ribs when he threw me. I was only thirteen, a child. How could a person, a father, do that to their own child? When I heard Y/N sniffle, I knew that I had taken a bit to think about what she had said.
"It's no wonder I blocked out most of my childhood. I don't think any teenager wants to remember that happening. I don't even talk to them anymore, and I could never remember the exact reason before, but now I know. It's crazy to think that something like that would happen and I would have no memory of it at all now. I'm glad you were strong enough to share this with me. I'm sure if we weren't as close as we were, I still would've been stuck in that household."
All she could do was give a head nod in his direction to let him know that she heard him. She didn't have any words to say. She knew it was traumatizing for him, much more than it was for her. Regardless, it was still difficult to listen to let alone talk about. She didn't want Jotaro to stress about this too much, it wouldn't be good for him at all. Especially since he has everything in front of him. Now that the hard part was over, Y/N decided it was time to lighten the mood.
"So Jotaro, to lighten the mood a little, tell me what's been going on in your life so far? It's been a little bit since we've talked, and nothing too grand has been going on in my life." He chuckled a little and looked up from the table.
"I mean not too much, just a little fame is all. It's all because of a micro-jellyfish I discovered accidentally. I was coming out of the water and the little guy was stuck to my suit. I pulled him off and brought him back to the lab to document him. I've never seen a species like it before. I took the documentation, photos, and species to the main people. They said that I had discovered something they had never seen before and then it was put onto the news. Now everyone, pretty much everywhere, knows who I am. Lucky for me, I have a very large build and my face is "scary", so everyone pretty much stays away from me. I can only imagine what would happen if people saw us walking together." He shook his head a smirked. It was so calming to see him in this state of peace. He wasn't scary looking or tough. He was a softy just like everyone else.
"So you're telling me, you found a new jellyfish species, gained fame, and you chose to stay and live here?" It was still unbelievable that he's a millionaire and chose a one bedroom apartment to live in. "Yes."
She could see he wasn't a materialistic person at all. Y/N actually liked that in a guy. Having a nice savings amount, but choosing a simplistic lifestyle. Well, exactly what she looked for. She furrowed her brows and looked down at her lap. Why was she thinking about him like that? They had just met again yesterday and she was already catching feelings for him. She just told him about his abusive father and now she was thinking about the qualities that matched her preferences. Well, it didn't matter that much. There's nothing wrong with having a little crush on him.
Right?
