~Dex's POV~

Aleks was being quiet today. He just sat around all morning, staring at the wall. Even when we asked if the bugger was okay, he just ignored us, like he was in a whole different world. He must've been really deep in thought. I thought now would be some good bonding time. Guess not. Maybe he's just tired. Well, let's hope so.

He may be better when him and the other guys play some games with him. What if he doesn't even like games? What if he's lying to us? I strung my fingers through my hair. I hope I didn't do anything to piss him off.

~Jordan's POV~

I had to do something. The kid looked unstable. He looked like he was about to throw up. I grabbed his arm and pulled him out into the hallway.

"Aleks, you okay?" I whispered. He avoided eye contact.

"I'm fine." He began to walk back to the kitchen, arms across his chest. I grabbed him and pulled him back.

"No, you're not." My voice was stern and loud. The kitchen got quiet and all their attention was on us. "Listen, I know you're upset about something, so let's talk about it."

He still didn't speak. I looked at the others and they snapped out of watching us and went back to talking. "Okay. I'm going to tell you about the time I fell off a step ladder." I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall. "I was searching for an Easter egg James had hidden in the ceiling and after I got it, I put my foot at the edge of the ladder, making me lose my balance. I fell straight down in front of Seamus, Dex, and James. That's what has been on my mind lately, how about you?"

His face was red and he tried not to laugh, and I smiled at him, waiting to talk.

"Well, mine isn't as... funny as yours. I don't know, I've just been thinking a lot after I saw Seamus shoot that store clerk. It kind of fucked me up. I don't want to have to do that. Ever." He shifted himself a bit.

I raised my eyebrows a bit. "Oh, it's the death that got to you." I nodded my head a bit. "We won't make you do that, but we still are going to do it for the sake of ourselves. Most of the time, you won't even have to do it, it's just the threatening."

He nodded understandingly, and looked less worried. "Okay, that sounds fine." He gave me a little smile.

The other guys walked up to us, empty plates on the table. "Jordan, we're going to go to the game room and play some Life. Dan and Seamus are coming too, you should bring Aleks." James stated.

I nodded my head. "Come on Aleks, we're going to play a fun game."

~Aleks' POV~

This better not be something like Call of Duty. Ugh, those kinds of games were awful. And even if I were to play an FPS, it would be CS:GO. I thought this as we walked back down the hall and into the large entrance room. They led me down yet another hallway and opened the door. There was sound foam everywhere.
"Why so much of this?" I asked, touching it a bit and looking around at it more.
"We can get loud sometimes, a bit too loud. People, sometimes only once a year, we see driving down this road. Someone heard us once. Didn't end well." Jordan mumbled.

I raised my eyebrows. I better not ask.

There were four chairs, which all were identical. They were quite comfortable, actually. I sat and crossed my legs.

"So, what are we going to play?"

"The Game of Life." James announced, slumping into his seat, controller in hand.

Wasn't that a board game? Why play on a console? These guys are so weird. I sighed and turned on my controller.

We all sat and began playing. It was actually really fun. We connected pretty well, and they were hilarious.

"WHAT THE FUCK? IS THAT MY WIFE?" James screamed at the large TV. I chuckled. I had gotten the same wife avatar as James. Jordan and Dan were pretty much crying.

"I'M DONE." James yelled one last time, before throwing the controller at the wall, it falling onto the hardwood. We all cracked up. I had never had this much fun playing video games before, and I never expected for it to be in The Game of Life. James sat outside on the ground, giggling and smiling.

I had forgotten about who these people were. I was treating them like friends, though they weren't that. They were demos. They manipulated me into thinking they were nice people, but really on the inside they were bat shit crazy. But that didn't matter. I loved all these dorks. I enjoyed their presence. They are my friends, or even, my family.

I smiled. Family. I never had much of a family. My father left when I was born, and my mother never cared for me. She would just clean the house. Nothing else. Always just cleaning. She didn't talk to me or have any interaction with me. It was nice knowing I had some family now. There isn't one family that is perfect, but my family had convicts in it. As long as I was happy, that's how this will stay. As a family - As Creatures. And I loved it more than anything.
