"Good morning Izuku Midoriya." Izuku's head snapped up as he dropped his chop sticks. There stood detective Tsukauchi looking proud of himself for knowing his birth name. Izuku however looked petrified."Shut up." Izuku whispered under his breath. They couldn't already know his real name? Right, he was asleep for nearly a week. They're gonna send him back if they know who he is. Or they'll send him to juvie first, as soon as those kids find out he's quirkless they'll surly kill him.
"Pardon?" The detective asked standing next to his bed now.
"You're not aloud to use that name." Izuku says this time louder. "You have no right to that name!" Izu-Deku yelled. Izuku would never yell like this. No matter though, he had more important things to worry about. Random people who he barely even know aren't aloud to use his name. That was reserved for people like Miss Kiyotsu. . . . And Eraserhead.
"I apologize, but I'm not comfortable calling you Deku. I mean useless? I don't want to continue to call you that if I have your name." Tsukauchi tried reasoning with him.
"I don't give a fuck, I'm Deku." He said with venom in his voice.
"Deku." Eraserhead said seriously. Izuku immediately shrunk in on himself again. He can't have Eraser be angry with him right now. He needed the man on his side. Tsukauchi looked between the two uncomfortably.
"Uhh so Izu-err um deku, I want to question you and tomorrow there will be a meeting with a judge to discuss where you'll be sent." Tsukauchi said.
"Can... c-can I t-talk to E-E-Eraserhead priv-privately fi-first?" Izuku asked quietly staring at his lap.
Tsukauchi hesitated a moment. "Yes that should be fine. I'll give you a half hour." The detective said before politely excusing himself. Izuku was quite for about five minutes trying to convince himself that this was a good idea.
"Th-this is-is all-ll re-real?" He asked still hoping he'd wake up in his nest of old blankets.
"Yeah Deku, it's all real." Eraserhead says calmly. Izuku took a shaky breath. Izuku doesn't want eraser to know about his past or diagnosis. But he's going to find out anyway. So he should find out on Izuku's terms.
"I-I think I wa-want to-to re-reintroduce my-myself to y-y-you." Izuku said shifting nervously.
"You don't have to do anything you're uncomfortable with." The man told him softly.
"No I need to." Izuku said telling himself to be strong about this. "Hello, I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's-it's a pleasure to meet you." He said holding out his hand.
"Shota Aizawa , I'm glad to finally meet you, Midoriya." Aizawa said shaking his hand with a nod of approval.
"And I'm fourteen years old and quirkless." Izuku said sucking in a breath in preparation to be rejected or something.
"Only about half a year and you can join my class. You can be the first quirkless hero, Midoriya." Izuku's eyes shot open as tears filled them. He had never thought he would ever hear those words come out of someone's mouth. Much less his hero's mouth.
"You really think so?" Izuku asked quietly mouth dry in anticipation.
"Yeah. You became a successful vigilante all by yourself, I can't imagine what you could accomplish with support." The man said back. His voice was steady and kept Izuku grounded as his mind swirled.
Izuku cried. He cried because someone believed in him. Someone believed he was worth the energy and time. Someone thought he mattered and that's something Izuku had grown to believe was impossible.
The questions were basic but Izuku had gone mute and was barely able to answer anything. He tried his best. Usually he would sign, but he couldn't and the detective wasn't allowed to uncuff him. So after an anxiety attack the detective decided it best not to disturb the boy further and left.
Once again it was nearly one AM and Izuku was tired so so incredibly tired, but unable to sleep. He thought he might go insane if he couldn't sleep again tonight. Sure he was an insomniac, but anxiety attacks were draining. More draining than staying up for a week straight and going on patrols in Izuku's opinion.
"I just want to sleep." He mumbled to himself.
"Then go to sleep." Eraser answers immediately. It almost made the boy jump.
"I can't."
"Why not?" The man asked.
"I don't know." Izuku sighed. "You're an insomniac, how do you get to sleep?"
"Drugs." The man answered fully serious. "Temazepam, it's a sleeping medication." The man explained further at Deku's look.
"Can I have some?" Deku asked immediately.
"No."
"Damn it." Izuku said though he knew that'd be the answer.
"Why can't you sleep?" He asked again. Deku thought for a moment trying to figure out why.
"I'm not sure...." He paused. "Maybe it-its because I'm in a n-new place w-with a lo-lot of uncertainty and the bed is n-not the mos-most comfortable." Izuku let out a small laugh. "I-I never re-really tho-thought I'd miss my-my home or my nes-nest of old smelly b-blankets." The greenette sniffed and rubbed his nose holding back his tears. He just wanted to go home.
"I'm sorry. I know you want to leave but all I can offer you is my company. If you tell me where your home is I can send my husband to grab some of your things?" The man offered gently.
"No, I don't want you people in my space." Izuku said immediately.
Eraser sighed "here" he stood up and pulled up some yellow thing from the floor. It looked like a blanket? Or sleeping bag is probably more accurate. Izuku hesitantly took it. He stared at it for a moment before deciding that he would do anything if it meant he might get sleep. He got into the yellow monstrosity and decided that he never wanted to leave it. Sleep consumed the boy quickly after that. After a very stressful day Izuku finally got the rest he needed.
