"Make sure the popcorn is in the middle." Clara argued with Jo. It was Christmas morning and the Marches and Laurences were setting up Christmas decorations.

"I know." Jo sighed snapping her heads towards her younger sister.

"But you're doing the sides first." Clara stated pointing to side of the string "The sides aren't spaced enough for my popcorn."

"I'm making a popcorn garland."

"You are wasting decorations and they are not dangling right." Clara pointed out shaking her head. If Jo couldn't set up the popcorn right she might as well just do.

"The sides are the most important." Jo said "If you don't have the sides..."

"Here's another gift for the March family." Laurie said walking into the Marsh home, cutting Jo off. Clara couldn't help but smile at the sight of Laurie, as she began fixing her hair.

In walked their father.

"Oh my god father!" Amy shouted spilling the bowl of cookies she held.

"Father!" Clara yelped running up to him and being the first one to give him a hug tears making their way into her eyes.

"My little women." he breathed "How you've grown. Oh Beth." he said looking to poor sick Beth.

The girl was feeling terrible last night having been diagnosed with Scarlet fever, the whole family worried if she would make it to Christmas.

"Merry Christmas to everyone." Father smiled looking at his girls. Clara looked up to her father realizing she hadn't gotten a good look at him. He still had his same tired eyes, and joyful smile, but something about him had changed, he looked worn down and sad almost almost like the war had truly changed him.

"Merry Christmas." Clara whispered giving him another hug as the rest of the Marches joining in. She quickly wiped her eyes not wanting Laurie too see her puffy eyes.

After all the tears where shed and the warm welcomes where said, everyone had decided to settle down for Christmas dinner. There was an assortment of meats and cheeses along with vegetables and gravy. Courtesy of the Laurence family of course.

The Laurence's joined in on the Marches Christmas feast this year the kitchen being filled with smiles and laughter.

Laurie was sat in between Clara and Jo while Meg sat right next to Mr.Brooke. Father and Mother sat next to one another as well and Clara wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

She looked up at Laurie staring at the way his smile flourished under the lights of her kitchen. Laurie then looked down at Clara the twos eyes meeting, and Clara felt her whole world stop. Laurie gave her a wink before turning his attention to something Father had said, Clara looked away embarrassed as she felt a blush make its way onto her cheeks.
