When we finally get in the car and start driving, I turn on the radio because I don't like to sit in silence. The song that came on was Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the Elephant.
"Ohh, I love this song." I say excitedly while turning up the radio.
When the lyrics come on, I start singing to them, quiet at first but then I slowly become louder as the song progresses. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Hawk looking at me with a slight smile on his face.
I look over at him and make eye contact, making him look back at the road.
"What? You don't like the song?" I ask him with a raised eyebrow and a smile.
"No, the songs fine. But you're singing could need some help." He says, smiling at the end of his sentence.
I let out a dramatic gasp and put my hand on my heart.
"How could you? My singing is beautiful." I say in a false hurt tone, but obviously trying not to burst into laughter.
"Yeah, if you think the sound of a cat giving birth is beautiful." He says, bursting out into laughter as he says it, causing me to do the same.
"Shut up, assface." I say, and I lightly hit his shoulder as I'm laughing.
"Just saying, maybe you should invest in some singing lessons or something." He says, raising his hand defensively.
"Oh yeah? Are you saying you're a better singer?" I challenge.
"Oh yeah, definitely. My singing is actually beautiful. Not birth giving cat- like whatsoever." He says cockily.
"Oh really? I have a hard time believing that." I say, rolling my eyes while staring at him.
"We'll believe it, baby." He says, looking at the road with a smirk.
"Care to give an example? I mean the music is playing." I say, gesturing to the radio.
"Nah, my singing is too special to be shown to just anyone. Plus, why would I reveal all of my secrets to to you? I gotta remain mysterious." He says, pretending to be cool.
"Oh yeah? Mysterious? You?" I say in a questioning tone.
"Uh yes. Whyd you say it like that? I'm mysterious, mysterious as hell." He deadpans.
"Mhm, sure." I drag out the words, laughing.
"I'm glad you came to that realization. I'm the mysterious guy with a mohawk." He tells me, making me scoff.
"What?" He says, looking at me with a confused face.
"You are an open book, hawk." I say, laughing at his facial expression.
"Bullshit." He says.
"You know what? We can agree to disagree. Deal?" I ask.
"Deal." He says with a sigh.
I realize that the conversation is over and I go on my phone, scrolling on instagram for the rest of the drive. I finally look up when I feel the car drive into the driveway.
"Welcome to my humble abode." He says, gesturing to the house.
I look up at the house through the windshield at examine it. It is a nice two story house, and it is a pretty tan color. The garage is darker then the rest of the house, and Hawk's care is the only one in the driveway. He opens the car door and gets out, so I do the same.
