ACE | Chapter Zero

Jakushitsu took being on time very serious. She took a lot of thigs seriously. She was a serious person. Sort of. She left her apartment with full intention of learning a bunch of things. Then she came back disappointed.

She knew exactly who she was meeting and where, except her plans of seeing him were ripping out the page when he was late, she waited several minutes. It had started raining and Jaku fell asleep to the rain and city ambiance.

And when he finally came, he had the audacity to scream at her. "WAKE UP!! YOU'RE ONLY GONNA GAIN MORE WEIGHT SLEEPING!!" Jaku nearly fell of the bench the second he opened his mouth. She was so appalled, it took her seconds to proccess what he had said.

Her eyes wide as she looked up at him with his hands on his hips and beaming. "Yo! Sorry to scare you there youngin!" He waved with two fingers. She closed her eyes and sighed. She tried to restrain herself, how could he?! It's not like she could hit him anyways.

"What? Come on now! Up you go!" He grabbed her arm and yanked her to her feet. She snatched her arm away, he raised an eyebrow. "Don't touch me. Where were you?!" She narrowed her eyes. And while the blonde showed no negative reaction, he just never stopped smiling.

"Well if you must know!~" He sung. "I was helping Eraser Head fill out some paper work for your transition JJ." That was her nickname, JJ. He is the only one who calls her that, ever. She felt some guilt bubbling up, those two have done so much for her--too much, she felt she didn't deserve it, because she never asked for it. It just happened. She's still thankful, sorta...

"Don't feel bad about it!!" He fist bumped her chest and beamed again, god he was so loud. "Eraser's not that stressed! He's actually sleeping right now so we should probably hurry up before he wakes up!" He started walking down the sidewalk. Jaku threw on her backpack and followed.

"But sensei, what training are we possibly going do while it's raining?" She looked up at the gray and gloomy sky, a rain drop fell in her eye, she blinked, and looked back at him. He blinked a few times before busting out in laughter. "Why are you-"

"Did you just call me sensei?!" She blinked then cocked her head to the side, she was confused. "Hm?" He was laughing at her. She knew that much but why? "That's unnecessary..." he said as he wiped his tears. "That accent of yours...my apologies! And to answer your question, since you've attended Thirteens 'The Mindset Of A Hero' lecture, now we're going to fight villains!!"

Jaku didn't flinch at the thought, but at the way he threw his hands in the air. "What?! But I-" - " Ah ah ah! I know what you're going to say, and good for you embracing your past! But you can't get offended everytime someone mentions something about villains! We know you understand them, you used to be one! But now you're against them, correct?" He looked over at her, tilting his sun glasses.

Jaku's face softened. "I know, I know that..." She looked ahead at the road, they stopped as they met the corner of the street. "JJ, this is different, no one's forcing you to take a life, this is new!" Jaku slightly smiled. He continued into the road, except he wasn't looking for cars, just walked.

Jaku tried to follow, but a speeding car made her back up, suddenly, he was gone. She looked around but the blonde was no where in sight. He should know better than to leave a foreigner alone in a foreign city!

"Uh, Present Mic?!" She started to panic, she didn't know what to do. Was it possible he was kidnapped?! She's a bit of a pessimist. "NOW LETS SEE THOSE SKILLS OF YOURS!!!!" The loud yell caused birds to flawk in all different directions.

Several seconds later, Jaku heard a girl scream a few blocks away, so she mindlessly started running towards that direction. A car was coming at her full speed, and she kinda didn't want to die so she jumped over it and continued.

Eventually, she caught up, and the screaming got louder and closer. This would be easier if she wasn't wearing jeans. She ran around the corner, someone swung at her, she jumped back and pulled out a knife from her pocket. 'This would be easier if I had my quirk.' She sighed.

"Boy, you think you can hurt me with a-" Did villian had a hostage holding her to gunpoint? Yes. But that didn't stop Jaku. "I'm a girl!" She threw the knife and he shot his gun but missed terribly, he was so busy dodging, by the time he looked back to taunt her, Jaku punched him in the face. Extremly hard, he fell back on the ground, she grabbed the girl, who couldn't be older than 14.

"Are you okay?" The girl rushed behind her, Jaku saw the guy scramble to his feet and run the opposite way. She sighed and relaxed her shoulders. When she turned around, the girl ran away crying.

She just shrugged it off, although that might've not been a good idea. "So you just let her go?!" Jaku jumped, she looked around and Present Mic was next to her, crossing his arms and shaking his head in disappointment. "Yeah, was I not?"

"Oh JJ..." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "She was a criminal too!!!" He threw his hands in the air and she flinched. "How do I know that?..." He might've gritted his teeth, a little actually angry how she is so clueless about the littlest things, but not too much. He understood. Sorta...

He sighed, "if you ever get the chance," he went in his pocket and pulled out a small, thin, blue book. "Read this, it just might help you." He handed it to her, she couldn't understand the title but put it in her bag anyways. He still treated her as if she wasn't a foreigner. She could speak english but wasn't so sure she could read it...

Present Mic decided to give Jaku another chance. This time at a higher level villain so she wouldn't get confused and let them go. While he was away, he was getting a bag a chips. Keep that in mind; a. Bag. Of. Chips. When he came back Jaku had a--cigarette! He had no time to think instead he jumped down and smacked it out of her hand. Not that she was about to smoke it, she had torn it apart and was sniffing it, but that was just as bad!

"What are you doing?!" He yelled, eyes wide, she was just as shocked as he was. "Oh, that guy offered me it if I left him alone." Mic's jaw dropped to the floor, he was so flabbergasted! He couldn't believe it! How could someone do that?!! "But I did-"

"WHAT?!!" Her ears hurt, but that was just karma. "Has your mom never taught you never take things from strangers?!! Let alone villains!! That's dangerous!! It could've been a bomb! And you actually let him go?! That guy probably has killed thousands and you let him go for a trade?! HAVE YOU LEANRED NOTHING?! THAT'S NOT WHAT HEROS DO!!"

Jaku furrowed her eyebrows and averted her eyes. "Mom really never taught me anything, and everything she taught me, you guys find wrong. So no, she didn't. And I didn't let him go, I scared him away, a cop arrested him. If you would've just listened." She grabbed her backpack and started down the street. As if she knew where she was going.

Guilt filled Present Mic's face. It didn't upset her that he didn't let her explain, but more of his comment about her mom. Her mom isn't a very good person, and neither was Jaku.

He let her go, though he did treat her to some food. It was quiet though. And well, after that he walked her back to her apartment and said his goodbyes and apologies. He still went to sleep with regrets and Jaku went to sleep thinking how she could improve.
