I cursed at my phone in utter frustration as Janelle entered my room. The future lawyer clad in a brand new FXR snowsuit. An early Christmas present my mother insisted on for all her help with the fair. "What's wrong with you?" She asked, stopping dead beneath the threshold.

I stared at my phone screen. Waiting for some sort of reply till I finally gave up. "Dallas isn't answering my calls or replying to any of my texts."

Janelle rolled her eyes. "I don't know why you feel the need to tell him everything."

"Because I'm not going to get in shit again," I snapped back, holding up my phone. "The last thing I need is him finding out I went to the cabin with Baker."

"Baker lives two seconds from the house," she explained, splaying manicured hands a few inches from each other. "You can't get into any more trouble at the cabin than you can here. And your brothers are coming with us."

It still didn't make me feel better.

I dropped my attention to the screen, thumbs typing furiously.

Hadley: I won't have a service till tomorrow.

Nothing.

Ugh. This was so annoying. I'd been trying to get a hold of Dallas since last night.

Janelle shifted. "Okay, you're giving very needy vibes, and it's ruining your bad girl reputation."

I might have laughed. "I'm a far cry from a bad girl."

"Well, you're making yourself look pathetic. How many times did you text?"

My eyes shifted. "A few."

"Okay, I can't watch this," Janelle breathed and made her way across my room. "You're going to get yourself in trouble by doing what you're doing."

She snatched my phone, and I clawed for it like a desperate cat. "Hey–"

"We are going to the cabin," she stated, stopping me with a single finger and leaving no room for argument. "You'll try again tomorrow."

I snarled like some sort of vicious beast.

"I'm keeping this," she added, tucking it in the front breast pocket of her white FXR suit. "You need a break from Dallas. All he's done is stress you out."

I wanted to argue that technically it was Baker stressing me out, and I might have pleaded my case had she not cut me off, "A day, Hadley. Can we please just have one day? Without Dallas drama."

I might've claimed offence had I not caught the plea in her green eyes. She was serious, and she wasn't just talking about our vacation. This past month wasn't exactly harmonious between Dallas and me. My returning home and the stuff with Baker was just another catalyst. To say I was busy would be an understatement. Between work, school, studying, and finals, I'd hardly had a moment to breathe let alone spend time with Dallas, and it seemed to put a strain on our relationship.
