Zac laughs at me. I scowl at him, I was tired. I really didn't want to walk a couple of miles.
"Fine," he chuckles, "We'll catch the tram. The next stop is in about ten minutes."
I nod. Thank goodness Zac was reasonable. He did all sorts of sports. He loved running and biking. So a couple of miles wasn't much at all to him.
The bus arrived five minutes late. I sat on the bench with a sopping wet Zac for fifteen minutes. Wet and miserable.
I think about what he said about the store, and his friend. No tourist would know their way around a town like this. Something was up.
"Zac, can I ask you something?" I prompt. Temporarily distracting myself from my clothes that cling to my body.
He gives me his full attention.
"How do you know your way around here so... Good?"
"Well," Zac corrected me. "I know my way around here so well because I used to live here." He put stress on the well, correcting my grammar.
"I lived here until I moved over to Evergreen." Zac informs me.
"Why would you ever want to move from Salgrum, to Evergreen?!" I exclaim. The move didn't seem logical, to me. It's so perfect here. Why would you ever want to leave?
"It wasn't really my choice to make," he tells me. I realize he was right. Probably his parents idea.
"Although, I really like Evergreen. It's nice and I've made a lot of new friends. Like you. If I never moved, I never would've met you, and Zoe, and Dallan, Nicholas, and all my friends. So, I guess you could say, I'm glad I did move," Zac adds.
After the ride the bus drops us off, about three or four blocks away from the store.
The store is small, almost hidden. It is easy to miss. But it's beautiful. It's perfectly spaced and everything looks very nice.
"Hey, I'm going to go over to the Men's section and get myself some new clothing too."
I shift through the racks of clearance clothing. I pick out a cute teal t-shirt that has Salgrum shore written on it. I had a picture of the beach, and the beautiful blue water.
I grab a pair of jeans and run into the dressing room. The jeans are light blue and bootcut.
I try it on, not taking a liking, I put the jeans back. Although I love the shirt.
Zac comes back with some new clothes in a bag. "How's it going?"
"Okay, I'm trying to find some jeans."
"What about those ones," Zac asks pointing to the light blue bootcut jeans I just tried on.
"Nah, it's not really me."
"What about those ones?" Zac points to a pair that looks exactly like the first ones I tried on.
"Zac! Those are the same thing!" I tell him.
"Really?"
"Yes!!" I put them side by side.
I grab another pair of jeans. These ones are dark blue. I love them.
I search for one in my size. Nope. They did not have any in my size. I guess I'm not that lucky.
Walking around to the other side of the jeans I see some that are similar. These are dark blue, but they are slightly ripped. I grab a pair in my size.
I run back to the dressing room, and take off my wet sticky jeans. I try on the new ones.
It feels good, the rips aren't to bad, but they make them feel... Nicer in a way.
I walk out of the dressing room and spin in a circle, "What do you think?"
"I think all jeans look the same, only these ones are darker and have a hole in the knee."
I gasp, "All jeans are not the same." I look at him, "Each pair of jeans is very different."
Zac puts his hands up, as if to surrender, "My apologies."
After buying the jeans with the rips, we start walking around.
"Hey, why don't we head over to Kevin's," Zac suggests.
"Who?"
Zac sighs, "I forgot. You don't know Kevin. You'll meet him soon. He can probably give us a place to chill. "
I nod. Okay, just another one of Zac's friends.
