Chapter 9: presence of a threat
Eli's POV:
We went downstairs to eat. "So, what do you want for breakfest?" "I don't know, Eli." She gave me a sad smile. "Angel, what's wrong?" I said bringing her into a big hug. "I'm just gonna miss you so much." A sudden chill ran down my spine that made me jump. "Eli? Is something wrong?" "O no. Everything's fine. Your gonna be fine too." I said kissing her forehead. I feel a unpleasant presence here. I'm probably just making an excuse for myself to stay. But I can't help but wonder if I should stay. "Hey Jamie?" "Yea?" "You don't go to school for a few more days and that dangerous person is still running around. Do you wanna stay with me for awhile?" "Re-really? You would do that?" "Of course. I really care about you. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if I left you here alone." "She won't be alone." Suddenly a deep male voice came from the doorway. "Dad?" Jamie jumped up and engulfed her father in a hug. I felt my cheeks start blushing and I looked down. "I appreciate your concern, but my daughter is perfectly fine here." "Dad, Eli wasn't saying," "No Jamie it's fine, I'm just worried. But I'm sure your father has things more handled then me." I lightly faked a smile. "Look at the time, I have a long drive ahead of me. Better get a move on." "What, already!?! We didn't even eat breakfast." "I'm gonna miss you too." I hugged her once more, a little longer. I don't care if her father was watching, I care about Jamie. "Let me walk you to your car?" "Sure." I smiled. We started walking towards the door. I picked my bag and slung it over my shoulder. We finally got to the and car,I slung the heavy bag in the trunk. Then shut it and turned to Jamie.
Jamie's POV:
Tears started streaking my face. "I'm really gonna miss you." I choked out trying not to break into sobs. "You keep saying that." He whispered. Suddenly, I found myself wrapped in those familiar, big, warm arms. Crying softly into Eli's chest. He kissed my head. Then a few times my neck. "It's alright, I promise I'll visit." We stayed there for a long time. After, I watched him pull away and wave his last goodbye, I turned to go inside. I remember walking up the driveway and then something was on my mouth. I tried yelling for help but I just blacked out.
