Chapter : Am I just another monster to her?

"Hey girls"

"Hey mom" they chorused back.

Caroline sighed they were both still so happy right now and she was going to ruin everything.

"Listen girls there are some things I need to tell you about can you both go sit down?"

The twins moved simultaneously to one bed holding each others hand.

Hope who had stood in the corner not wanting to disturb what was going to happen looked at her girlfriends posture it was tense like she already knew that her mom was going to tell her bad news.

But still she looked as beautiful as ever.

"Are you finally going to tell us about what the merge is and what that solution is that that woman was mentioning?" asked Josie eager as ever

Caroline had totally forgotten about the fact that she hadn't explained the merge at all to her daughters this was just getting more and more complicated.

"I guess we should talk about that first then but afterwards we have to talk about something else to."

Lizzie and Josie both looked at each other not understanding their mothers nervosity.

"Let's start at the beginning the merge is something that only happens at the Gemini coven it is a ritual that will decide who will be the next leader of the coven. Due to the twins being the first in line for the leadership of the coven, they are required to perform the Merge, through which their consciousness and strength would be merged together. The stronger twin survives the spell and is empowered by their magic as well as the magic of their twin. The weaker twin's consciousness and magic, however, is drained away and dies."

Lizzie and Josie kept silent trying to take it all in one of them would die and the other was going to kill them.

"Now I know you are worried okay, but we have a solution there is nothing to worry about I want you to try and not think about this to much okay."

"We would have to kill each other in this ritual -, and you and dad didn't take we deserved to know we were living on borrowed time?" Lizzie asked bewildered.

"It wasn't that simple honey how do you tell your daughters that one of them might die it isn't a conversation I was particularly looking forward to. It is the reason I was so much away for all these years trying to find a solution and now we have one, so I don't need to go anywhere anymore okay"

Josie looked toward her twins and just for a moment she imagined what it would be like to not have her there anymore sitting next to her and she just couldn't, the pain that she felt from even imagining it was horrendous.

Hugging her sister was the only thing she would do could do until she was sure that she was still there and that she wasn't going to lose her.

Caroline looked at her daughters so young and yet so strong. They really have been through so much, but they always manage through everything because they have each other. Two parts of one whole.

"If this is what you forgot to tell us about and this was already such a bad thing what is it you wanted to talk about in the first place?" asked Lizzie still hugging her twin close also feeling the dread of someday losing her.

"Well honey it is a little complicated, but I just need you to promise me that whatever we tell you about in this room you listen closely and not jump to conclusions immediately."

They twins nodded not understanding anything yet.

"It is about your father, he uhm how do I put it. He is becoming dangerous to dangerous to leave walking around. He tried to kill every walking vampire alive."

"Mom are you saying what I think you are saying?"

"We need to find a way to put him down before he succeeds in killing anyone of us."

"You can't be serious right now mom, that's dad you're talking about and yeah lately he hasn't been in his right mind, but you can't seriously think about killing him"

"Lizzie please..."

"And you" she said turning to her girlfriend "please tell me you don't agree with them please tell me this is all a mistake and that you aren't actually trying to kill our dad I know he hasn't been himself lately but murdering him Hope please"

"Lizzie I am so sorry"

Blue eyes shined with disappointment and tears when she looked towards her girlfriend, she couldn't believe it.

"So, you do agree god why did I think you were different from them why would I think you are different from your family when it is clear you are all just cold-blooded killers."

Hope knew that this was the blonde's anger talking but that didn't mean it hurt any less.

"Lizzie please calm down so that we can properly explain this all."

"I just can't be here right now I have to go like now"

The blonde was already walking towards the door trying to get away as soon as possible.

"Fuck" said Hope as she put her hands in her hair trying to figure out what to do

Meanwhile Josie was still sitting on her bed trying to process everything.

She looked up at her mother who was still staring at her hoping that she wouldn't walk away to.

"You truly think there is no coming back for him?"

"I think that your father has made many mistakes in his life all that he regretted immediately but that right now he has gone of the rails and that there is not much left of the man we used to know."

Josie looked at her mom understanding were she was coming from but also hurt that they are planning to kill her dad.

"I will leave you alone for now honey try to wrap your head around what I told you and come look for me later okay, in the meanwhile I might have asked some people to come for some comfort, you can always ask them to go away but I think that you could use a little bit of their comfort right now."

Opening the door Maya and Penelope were nervously waiting to try and see how Josie was feeling. Once the door was open, they all but rushed in trying to help the brunette.

Looking back seeing her daughter wrapped in their arms she already knows she was in good hands.

Leaving them be Hope and Caroline left the room each going their different paths.

For Hope Lizzie's words where still ringing in her head.

Not knowing where to go she just let her feet guide her trying to shake of her emotions.

Coming to a halt she realized she was standing in front of her moms' door. Opening it she immediately saw her mom looking as beautiful as ever she last saw her.

"Hey mom, I know I haven't been here a lot lately but that is because I don't know how to not see you looking alive"

Hope looked a little shocked at her own words.

"God mom sorry that was so morbid I am sorry, I just really have a feeling that I need to be here right now because I really messed up."

Hope went to sit down next to her silently taking her hand

"We have a plan or more like an idea that we need to get rid of Alaric because what he did not only to you but because what he was planning to do to the whole school. And we told the twins but Lizzie she uhm she didn't take it too well which I know is normal but she looked at me and it was like she saw nothing more than another monster standing in front of her I just don't know how I can fix this. Am I just another monster to her right now or does she still think of me the same. It is killing me not knowing what I can do to help her. And I know you probably didn't hear a thing I said but I just needed to talk to you, so thanks mom."

Hope looked at her mom wanting nothing more than to just crawl up and lay next to her so that is what she did. Because in that moment there was nothing more going on than just her and her mom laying side by side.
