"Going on? We hardly know each other."

"If you don't know each other then why does he know your phone's lock pattern?"
"He does not."
"Shame on you for lying to a child!"
"I swear one of these days you're getting smacked..."

Rhea squeals but becomes silent when everyone stares. It is a temple premises you're on after all.

"You would never smack me - but - if there's nothing going on then why are you so nervous?"
"I'm not nervous. Why are you so nosy, huh? Enjoy this temple, or else we're going back. And no more trips."
"Come on, Auntie, don't be scary," she groans.
You laugh. "Don't go on saying such stuff to your mum," you tell her rather sternly.
"So there is something to tell!"
"Why are you so interested? So that you can see your Suga oppa again?"

Rhea pouts at you. "It would be nice to have him be your oppa..." Her voice trails away.

The longing in her voice is so intense that you miss your chance to retort. You're not sure if "oppa" means boyfriend or brother but you know that it lies in the grey.

"What do you mean?"

"I just mean that if you want to make him your boyfriend then you have my approval." Rhea replies and skips ahead, you follow her with a manic bundle of confused feelings.

The day is a blur of biting cold and sunshine as Rhea, not that you're surprised, makes you go along with her to all the historical shrines and tombs you can possibly cover in a single day. By the time you're back to pick up Suga, you're exhausted and hungry.

He's leaning against a parked car, engrossed in his phone just like anybody in the crowd, his identity hidden under a regular black mask. He looks up when Rhea runs ahead of you and reaches him.

"English, please," you snap the moment she starts speaking in Korean.
"Aish," she mutters. It makes Suga laugh.
"Did you swear at me?"
"No, I didn't! Tell her I didn't, Suga!"

"She didn't," he tells you and turns to her, "do let me know if you need to swear at someone - I'll do it on your behalf."

Rhea giggles while you make a disapproving noise.
"I see you got some sleep," you observe. He nods, "is it that obvious?"
"You look like you just woke up."

He tilts his neck and shrugs in a cute sort of way.

"Where's this chicken shop now?" you ask, making yourself look away from him.
"I thought you didn't want to go?" Suga retorts.
"Don't push it," you say, trying hard to appear stern but something about the situation makes you giggle.

Suga shakes his head and says, "Come on." He nudges your back to guide you towards an alley on your left. Rhea gets in between you both and takes your and Suga's hand in hers, pulling you both forward. Before you know it you're laughing and skipping like kids. You're aware that you three probably look like a family like this. The thought makes you feel silly and weirdly euphoric.

"We are here," Suga says. You're in a dingy back alley behind a market. Here, the old-fashioned dwarf-like buildings are huddled extremely close together in a long line.

"We are?" you question, not knowing which greasy door is the one. There's no signboard. But on the other hand, whatever's cooking smells amazing.

"I use the back entrance now, for reasons obvious," Suga looks apologetic for about half a second. Then, he opens the greasy door closest to your left and enters. It's a cramped corridor-like space through which you enter the kitchen. You appreciate the warmth of the space after coming in from the cold outside.

A heavyset man and a wiry woman greet Suga with a lot of enthusiasm. They speak Korean so fast that your four-word vocabulary feels useless. From their tone though, you can make out they've known each other a long time, and they were expecting to see Suga today.

He makes the introduction. You're visibly nervous but put your most genuine self forward. The lady speaks louder, and though you can barely understand each other, the warmth makes itself felt. She holds your hands and says, "you pretty!"

"Ohmo, khamza-imnida, Imo!" you squeeze her palm before letting go. You sense she's weighing you and so far, she approves. You don't notice how anxiously Suga is gauging the lady's reaction to you.

Imo hands you a paper menu. YumYum Chikin's Specials.

"I'll have whatever Imo recommends," you say. Suga translates for you, and then Imo replies, "Daegu's Best Boy Meal?"

The way Suga flinches at that makes you ask Imo, "Daegu's Best Boy?" while pointing your thumb at him.

She nods with a hearty laugh.

"Aish," Suga growls. "It's just what I usually order. She branded it after someone clicked me while I was eating here."

"Daegu's Best Boy Meal it is," you tell Imo with a giggle.

After that, he leads you up a narrow staircase into a loft.
