Thoughts rushed through Naya's mind as he was looking through the window of the plane.
What do I do if I see them? How would I react? Would they kill me before I've even seen them? I can't die yet. Why am I thinking like this? I'm ready, dad taught me all the things I need so why am I nervous? No, why am I even scared?
Naya's thoughts were interrupted as his dad said out loud.
Are you sure that you are ready? Are you sure you're ready for your first solo mission?
"Are you underestimating my abilities my dear father? "
Naya says as he continues to stare out the window, black eyes that look like the void.
He was nervous.
He was trying hard to not scare or make his father nervous, Lano can still tell, he is his son after all. His own blood.
As he looks at his son, he was zoning out, fiddling with his fingers, and occasionally whistling. Habits that he used to do when he was younger. Habits that he used to do when he was scared.
Naya was closer to his dad as his mom was controlling, demanding, and expected nothing but the best. They have formed a bond, a very strong one and that's why Lano is very nervous, after all this years of being with him, teaching him, and protecting him, he will finally go on an adventure alone, without him. He continued the conversation between them by saying...
"It's not that I am, I just want you to remember the rules and principles of our family."
"First is that do not forgot your morals, whatever the situation may be."
"Second, do not mention our family name. Only do it when you have my permission. We don't want people to find out the you are connected or even the possible heir of the business."
"Third, do not let anyone control or get into your head, remember you are apart of our family, know your worth."
"Fourth, do not hurt innocent people, if needed you may hurt them a bit, but if they try to kill you or if you have a bad gut feeling about them do not hesitate to Kill."
"Fifth, always, and I mean I always wear your ring. Remember them all Nayu an-"
"Dad, don't need to worry I remember them all you don't need to remind me again."
Nayu said with a sincere look in his eyes."Be careful Naya, I still want to see you alive by Christmas. Remember that you are the only heir of our business and no, this is not request it is an order."
"Of course dad, but please don't worry you have taught me a lot, I'll put them to good use. Love you dad"
"Love you too, but please let me finish my sentences next time."
"Sorry dad "
Nayu said with a sheepish look on hisface.
"Dad, the ring wher-"
"Speaking of the ring here it is, "
Lano said while getting a box from seemingly out of nowhere.
Naya was mesmerised by the design, it was small but very detailed and intricate, it looked like it took decades to craft. Lano slowly got the ring and put it on his finger, it shone and clicked.
"Don't be worried about losing it, it knows it's owner and will cling on it until the owners last breath."
Naya tried to move his arm and fling it around in an attempt to let the ring go but it was no use. As his father was laughing at his attempt to remove it he thought to himself, "it really is clingy."
The plane ride was still long, they had about 11 hours in their journey, Lano proposed that they play some games and gossip while waiting for the time to pass by. They played their favourite game chess and cards.
Lano and Nayu made sure to cherish this moment as they are not sure on when they would see each other again. This may even be the last time, but Lano kept those dark thoughts and pushed them in the back of his mind, he wanted to enjoy this moment with his son, just like how it was back at home.
I'll do anything to keep you safe.
