Just a casual, short au. It's a very chill one so don't go in with any expectations🤍

"Appa! Appa! Idhu?"

(Dad! Dad! This?)

Ashwin found his bambino who just turned 1 holding up the snowman ornament with shiny eyes.

"Adhu last ah chellam, indha side la vekkanum." He sweetly said.

(That goes in the end, it's supposed to be on this side)

But she stubbornly shook her head, sticking her lips out to form an angry pout. She adored the snowmen and had no patience to wait until her father finished decorating the tree with other uninteresting ornaments, she needed to hang the snowmen already.

He teasingly poked the little dimple of his daughter's cheek as she immediately smiled, giggling at her father's gesture. "Patience baby, patience."

Sensing her gearing up to throw a tantrum when she didn't get it her way, he immediately lifted her up into his arms and cooed softly into her ears to calm her down.

"This is called snowflake." He flashed the tiny ornament that he fetched out of the bag.

"Fnowflake!" She mimicked him, making him chuckle at how she still had trouble enunciating the letter 's'.

Her doe eyes expanded in fascination as she eagerly snatched the ornament out of her father's hand.

"Baby, do you know what day is it today?" Ashwin asked his daughter, his eyes focused intently on the large tree they were supposed to finish decorating by evening.

She made some incoherent noises as she was too occupied with sucking on the snowflake, she couldn't bother to answer her daddy.

"Sollu, what day is it today?" He poked her cheek, wanting her attention that was currently being stolen away by an ornament.

He's one of the rarest fathers out there who genuinely spends time with his precious daughter. And spending time doesn't mean he just sits around using his phone while the child plays on her own.

Not in Ashwin's household.

He would completely penetrate into her world, talk to her like she understands everything, play with her like she was his friend and carry out different tasks with her from cooking to laundry.

That was why their baby girl started speaking much earlier than most children. Because she was always talked to, and most importantly listened to.

He gently snatched back the ornament from her hand and before she could start crying, he told her firmly. "No. You tell me what day is it today first, come on."

She blinked like a baby deer, thinking hard. Her daddy never asks her what day was it unless it's a special day.

She made a guess. "Dada Day!"

He laughed and kissed her nose. "Yen birthday appovey mudinchu."

(My birthday was over ages ago)

Naturally her second guess was, "amma day!"

He pinched her nose, making her pout harder. "We celebrated Amma's birthday even before mine."

He sat her down to dig the shopping bag and fetched out the purple bells he remembered buying earlier. Nodding in satisfaction when he found it, he took her into his arms again and passed each bell to her while instructing her on where to hang it.
