But it never came.

Instead a snowball hit her right in the back of her head. Haewon shrieked and turned around in the blink of an eye to see who had thrown it.
Jungkook stood not far from Namjoon and Haewon, a big smirk on his face and his eyes lit up with childish delight. Hoseok, Taehyung and Jimin stood next to him, all equipped with snowballs.
Haewon's eyes widened.

"SNOWBALL FIGHT!", Hoseok yelled and threw his snowball hard. Haewon ducked on reflex and it hit Namjoon right in the chest.
"YAH!", Namjoon screamed in anger but immediately crouched down and gathered up snow. "You have to form a ball from snow and throw it at each other. In a snowball fight it's everyone against everyone and each fight for only themselves", he explained Haewon who had just stared at her mates with wide, confused eyes.
Understanding flashed through her expression and in seconds she was crouching down next to Namjoon and gathering up a handful of snow...

...and dumped it right on Namjoon's head.

"YAH!", Namjoon yelled again and lunged for Haewon. But the vampiress easily danced out of his reach with a pretty giggle.
"What was that?!", Namjoon screamed after her as she already dodged the snowballs thrown by Jimin and Taehyung and gathered up her own snow to form munition.
"You said every vampire for themselves!", Haewon laughed and threw a well-placed snowball at Hoseok's head, who was busy running after Jungkook with a war cry and masses of snow in his hands.

Taehyung and Jimin used Haewon's distraction themselves and tackled her to the ground, each dumping a hand of snow right on her face. Haewon grabbed some of the snow and threw it up at them. Namjoon joined them by throwing a snowball at Jimin, who dodged it by letting himself fall flat on Haewon.
Which only left him open to Taehyung, who grabbed his mates head and pushed a hand full of snow on his face.
"YAH!", Jungkook yelled and came running right at their pile, Hoseok hot on his heals. "Don't have all the fun without us!"
And so the better part of two hours was filled with yells and screams and laughter and lots of snow and betrayals of temporary truces.
It truly was the most fun Haewon had had in all her life.

Only when Yoongi appeared and ordered them all inside did the fight end. Haewon was almost willed to protest but thought better of it when Yoongi shot Hoseok a dark glare as the younger one tried to include Yoongi into their snowball fight by throwing snow at him.
Oh how glad she was that she had come inside, though. Their flat was dark when they entered it. No artificial light was on. But when they followed Yoongi into their living room once they had properly freed themselves of the snow and changed into dry clothes, Haewon's jaw dropped in silent awe.

Lights. Glittering, soft lights everywhere.
Candles flickering gently. A tree decorated with fairy lights. The entire room bathed in the prettiness of gentle light.
It was so beautiful it formed a lump in Haewon's throat.

Her eyes flashed to Jin and Yoongi. And then to Taehyung and Jungkook and Jimin. And lastly to Namjoon. Each and everyone of them had a look on their face as soft and gentle as the Christmas lights. And suddenly Haewon understood.
There was something special about these lights. There was something special about the tender smiles and loving eyes illuminated by Christmas lights.
"This is—", she whispered barely audible but her voice cracked. Lashes fluttering quickly as she tried to blink away the tears of joy.
"Is this—", she tried again but had to stop as her throat closed even more.
Her eyes roamed over the room once more. Flickering, tinkling lights, gentle and warm and soft and magical.
A scent of fir and tangerines and cinnamon in the air. The heartbreakingly soft expressions on her mates' faces. Haewon had never felt as loved as she did in that moment.
It was Jin who spoke in such a tender voice that it made Haewon actually shed a tear.

"This is Christmas."

Soft music suddenly filled the room and Hoseok stepped up next to Haewon. His smile was so bright it almost challenged all the lights in the room.
"May I have this dance, Mylady?", he asked and bowed before he held out a hand to her. An invitation. Not just to a dance. But to so much more.
To a life together in eternity. An invitation to spent many more Christmases with them.

Haewon swallowed down her tears and took his hand.
"Always", she whispered, not trusting her voice. And just as she finished talking and the last syllable died on her lips, Hoseok had pulled her to him and led her into a dance just as magical as the lights around them. Twirling and swaying and touching. All in a sea of warm, gentle lights.

It was perfect.
