It was with a flushed face and an almost giddy smile that Haewon sat down after their entire nest had danced to Christmas music. Yoongi handed her a warm mug of blood and sat down next to her. His shoulder touching hers.
A satisfied and content silence fell over them. From somewhere in the town a bit away the church bells rang. Everything felt warm and light and just...magical.
And within that blanket of love and silence that had fallen over them with only the Christmas tree illuminating the dim room with its magical glow;
Jimin began to sing. His voice lifted gently over the silence. Pretty and soothing like an angel.
Jungkook was the next to join in. Then Taehyung and Jin and Namjoon until they all sang together.
And for a moment only their voices and the Christmas lights existed within the world. For one magical moment they were united in a gentle song as everything else seemed to have fallen silent. The church bells. The winter wonderland outside. The entire castle seemed to hold its breath and listen to them.
Undead hearts filled with love and hope. And then it wasn't only the lights that spread warmth and magic.
It was their voices, too. Their song. Their music uniting them all.Haewon couldn't help the tear slipping from her eyes. She had never known that Christmas could be this wonderful.
This magical.
And she closed her eyes and stopped singing. She just listened to the seven voices filling the room around her.Filling her heart with the knowledge that they would always be there. That she would always have them to share these moments with.
Moments full of love and Christmas lights and silence that became a song speaking to everyone with tender tones. Singing of hope and warmth with nothing but united voices.
It truly was perfect. Her eyes were still closed as she felt their voices come closer. As if the song itself came for a hug.
To wrap her in gentle notes and soothing voices and shield her from everything bad.
But it never came.
Haewon opened her eyes again. Confusion the only thing she felt.
And all she saw was the ceiling of her dorm room.
There was no Jin.
No Jungkook or Yoongi.
No Jimin. No Namjoon. No Taehyung. No Hoseok. No Christmas lights. No singing together. No warmth.
No home they decorated.No... no home at all.
Dread washed over her. Cold and unforgiving. Cruel and final.
She was alone. The warmth of fairy lights and candles was gone.
The happy, content feeling in her chest shattered easily like glass.
The edges cutting just as sharp as all she suddenly felt was emptiness and pain.
Haewon sat up in her bed. Still disoriented from everything and drowning in sorrow.
Was it a vision? Or just a dream?Haewon didn't know. Couldn't discern whether it was a wish or a possible future.
And it made her soul tear a bit more.
Made her tears finally fall as she brought up her hands to hide her face and sob heartbreakingly.
All alone in her dark, empty room.
And yet...a song still seemed to echo within her soul.
Where everything else was silent. The song barely audible.
But it was there. As if it wafted tenderly over a cold, winterly night to bring hope with an angel's voice.
Quiet and soft. Fading.
Fading away. Like a dream.
Until only silence was left once more.
Merry Christmas everyone!
