"We heard a crash and laughter", Hoseok started the moment Jungkook, Haewon and Jimin had found their way into their kitchen that also housed their large dining table. "Did Joon walk into Jin hyung's figurine collection again?" Jungkook snickered at that.
"No, no", Haewon answered and let go of Jimin's and Jungkook's hands to wave her owns dismissively. "He stumbled over me."
"Was anyone hurt?", Yoongi demanded to know with a slight furrow in his brows, checking them all over for injuries from where he sat at the table. Haewon only shook her head and placed a sweet peck on the crown of his head.
"Thanks for worrying, babe", Haewon whispered but Yoongi only huffed and looked away. If there was a slight dusting of pink on his cheeks then no one dared to point it out.
Haewon walked over to Jin and Hoseok who were handling breakfast.
"Do you need any help?", she asked. "Kookah and Jiminnie volunteer."
"YAH!", the doubled yell of offence came immediately and was joined by the laughter of the others. Haewon sent them a teasing wink as Jin immediately told them to set the table. She walked past Jin, caressing his shoulder as she walked by, and took the blood bag Hoseok had just grabbed from the bridge.
"Go help Jinnie with the food", she said and went to open the blood bag and pour its content into a large mug.
Her nest was fond of mixing blood into food and eat that whenever they didn't feed from each other. Most vampires these days were actually fond of eating human food infused with blood. But Haewon had never quite found the appeal in that.
She rather sipped on microwaved blood if she couldn't have it straight from the source.
"Sure, sure, granny", Hoseok teased as he walked away from her. "Go make the only food your ancient teeth can handle. Liquids!"Haewon was beside him in the blink of an eye and then pushed him against one of the kitchen walls.
"Wanna say that again, sunshine?", she demanded to know, eyes gleaming crimson and fangs fully on display. "You know I like it best fresh from the vein."
She teasingly licked over the main artery on his neck. Sharp teeth grazing skin without breaking it.
A shudder went through Hoseok as he could only stare at her with wide eyes.
"Yah! I said postpone fun times!", Namjoon's voice echoed through the room and Haewon rolled her eyes. But she let go of Hoseok.
"Spoilsport", she huffed at Namjoon. The leader of their nest only sent her a stern look. Haewon crinkled her nose but abode by his silent demand. She returned to the microwave to wait for it to finish heating up the blood.Haewon was the last to sit down at the table. Her steaming mug of warm blood in hand and a fond smile on her lips as she looked around.
Her nest was happy and healthy and truly...she couldn't ask for more. She sipped on her mug. Sticky, thick blood slowly running past her lips, over her tongue and down her throat. So satisfying. Almost as satisfying as watching her nest.
For as long as Haewon could remember, feeding had always been an act of highest importance within vampire society. May it be the mutual feeding within a nest, intimate, seductive and the very most satisfying way to feed. Or at official banquets, when humans were shared to strengthen a business deal or political connection.
To see her nest now all together, feeding each other even if it wasn't from their own veins...it filled Haewon's cold, undead heart with warmth and let it soar high. The fun, upbeat Christmas music in the background told her that it had been Hoseok who had chosen the playlist. A look to her left down the table gave her the adorable view of him bobbing his head to the music with a happy smile on his face as he fed Yoongi a bit of the blood-infused kimchijeon Jin had prepared.
Letting her eyes roam a bit more while she sipped on her blood, Jin's gaze and hers crossed. A proud smile on his handsome face that showed how much he enjoyed his nest eating his food. A smile that turned more tender and softer when he found Haewon looking back, just as proud and gentle."Say Ah!"
Haewon startled at the sudden voice to her right. Taehyung held his chopsticks with a piece of kimchijeon close to Haewon, the other hand beneath it to catch the food if necessary and a bright, boxy smile on his face that made his dark eyes crinkle and shine. With a low chuckle and a roll of her eyes, Haewon opened her mouth to let him feed her.
Just because she didn't favour human food infused with blood didn't mean that she wouldn't give her mates the satisfaction of feeding her. And when she saw the proud look on Taehyung's face, she knew that it was more than worth the stale taste and strange texture in her mouth."I still don't understand why you don't like this", Jimin said with a curious look. He had obviously observed the exchange between Taehyung and Haewon.
"Ah...", Haewon hummed as she pondered how to answer.
"Yes, Jin's cooking is soooo good", Jungkook chimed in with half a moan on his lips and a teasing wink towards Jin, who's ears turned red at the praise.
"I think it's because it's been such a long time since I ate human food at all", Haewon mused, one finger tipping at her lower lip in thought. Her eyes fell on the mug in her other hand. "Even this is a bit strange", she added and lifted the mug a bit higher to show it off.
"Right", Namjoon nodded along. "Microwaves didn't exist the last time you were...uh...not indisposed." He ended his comment a bit sheepish. The boys still cautious around Haewon's age and imprisonment.
"Christmas also didn't exist back then", Haewon said with a generous wave of her hand around to encompass the decoration and music to change the topic. "This is all very new to me."For a moment no one said anything. Even the light clink of chopsticks against porcelain stopped entirely.
Only the now strangely happy Christmas music still provided some sound."Wait...what?!"
It was actually Seokjin who shattered the shocked silence with his loud exclamation. Haewon's brows crinkled together in confusion. What was the big deal?
"This is your first Christmas?", Yoongi asked deceptively calm but the corners of his mouth were pulled down and his forehead slightly furrowed.
"Yes?", Haewon answered a bit hesitant. Eyes rushing from one mate to the other, trying to figure out what was wrong. What she did wrong."How did you know how to decorate then?", Jungkook asked, eyes wide and food actually forgotten for the moment.
Haewon's voice was careful as she answered: "I...uh...googled?"
"Okay", Hoseok huffed out and put his chopsticks down with more force then necessary. "That just won't do."
He stared straight at Haewon with such a determined expression that a part of her was worried what would come next. Not that she had anything to worry about, anyway. Not with her nest. Never with her nest. Her wonderful boys."We're going to make sure you have the best first Christmas ever!", Hoseok announced loudly and with such an air of finality that no one dared to disagree with him.
Not that anyone would have wanted to judging by the loud hollers of agreement and ideas thrown around already hastily by the others.
Haewon was still confused but the suddenly excited hum of the entire room had her smile contently. Whatever they planned...she was sure it would be memorable.
