Blaze led her a few feet to where the bear was cut in chunks. "For my mate." He said with a nervous grin as he picked up the bear pelt and offered it to her. She cocked an eyebrow at his action. "Mate no want?" A look of defeat crossed his handsome face. "No, I want it." She said while dropping her blanket and taking the pelt from him.

"What in the world am I supposed to do with this?" She quietly whispered to herself as she examined it. "I tan for mate." The wolf-man said as he took the pelt back and handed her her blanket. After taking her blanket back, Songbird just stood and watched Blaze carry all of the bear meat to the second passage that was blocked off by the large rock.

Once all the meat was at the passage, Blaze wrapped his muscular arms around the rock and let out a loud growl. Songbird watched with amazement as her mate moved the rock to the left, revealing a hidden passage. Once the rock was moved, Blaze picked up the meat and brought it into the passage.

The stale scent of unfresh air filled Blaze's nostrils. His eyes quickly adapted to the darkness of the chamber. Inside the chilly chamber was old pelts his whole family used to wear, along with some old toys that he and his brother used to play with. This had been Malacoda's room before he had left. Now it was just a storage passage.

Blaze moved all of the meat into the passage before moving the rock back in front of it. The meat would stay cold there and tomorrow he would put the herbs onto it so it would last longer. Tomorrow he would also start to tan the bear hide for Songbird.

Songbird watched all of this with curiosity. For all the time she has been living in the cave she never realized there was a passage behind the rock.

Once Blaze was content with the rock being positioned just right he walked back to his mate. "Sleep." He said as he extended his hand to her. She gratefully took it and walked with him to the nest. Once the two lovers were at the nest Blaze let go of her hand and kneeled at the edge of the nest. Blaze put his hands into the nest and started to fluff up all of its contents. After he deemed the nest fluffy enough he motioned Songbird to lay in it.

She slowly plopped down in the nest, taking her time not to hurt herself. (While Blaze did fluff the nest up, there still was a hard rock surface beneath it.) After she was seated in the nest she wrapped her blanket around her body.
Blaze then sat beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "Mine." He cooed as he rubbed his stubbled cheek against the top of her head. What Songbird didn't know was that Blaze was rubbing his scent on her, making is so every forest creature knew she belonged to him and him alone.

With it getting colder out he would have to give her his mother's deer hide clothes to wear so she wouldn't freeze. It getting colder also meant that tomorrow morning would be the last time he could strip her naked and clean her without freezing her. Another thing that came with cleaning her in the morning would be that he could figure out what seems so different/off about her.

"Blaze, let go of me. I'm going to sleep." Songbird told him sleepily. Blaze let out a low grumbling noise before reluctantly letting go of Songbird's shoulders. She laid down on her stomach, pulling her blanket tighter around her body. A few minutes later Blaze followed her lead, except he laid on his back with his left arm across her back. By sleeping in this position he would be able to jump up and shift to protect her. He likely would sleep like this for months till he was sure nothing was going to mess with his mate.

A few hours later, around 2 am.

Blaze's ears picked up on a third heartbeat coming from inside the cave. It was very, very faint but it was there. In a flash he was awake and shifted, ready to protect his mate from the intruder. A loud growl erupted from his chest, shaking the trees outside and waking his mate. "Blaze, what's going on?" Songbird asked as she rubbed her eyes, trying to get them to adapt to the cave's darkness. Blaze looked over his shoulder and even though she couldn't see it, he gave her a look that said shush. With him suddenly shifting like this, fear crept through Songbird.

Blaze's ears twitched as he heard her heartbeat rapidly increase. He let out a low growl this time, warning the intruder that it was going to pay for scaring his mate. In quick, precise steps he went forward. His eyes went back and forth rapidly checking the cave for signs of the intruder. But there was nothing in the cave, no sign of anything but the two mates. Though there was no sign on an intruder, the sound of three heartbeats still filled Blaze's ears.

I know what it is. He whispered as he approached Songbird who was now standing up and struggling to watch his every move. Once he was back at the nest, he knelt down and gently pulled Songbird closer to him. "What are you doing?" She asked him as he pressed his ear against her stomach. Thump. Thump. Thump. I knew it. You're carrying our pup! He yipped excitedly before shifting back to his human form. Even though the thumps were so faint he could hear them clearly.

"Blaze what's going on?" She asked worriedly. He struggled for words, what little English he was able to speak didn't explain that she was having a pup. Now he had to think of her singing about mommies and daddies. "My coat of many colors that my momma made for me. Made from only rags but I wore it so proudly." Her beautiful voice filled his head as he remembered her singing that song not long after he kidnapped her. "M-mo-momma." He said while tapping her chest and once again struggling for words.

"But it's not my mind that's broken, it's my heart. Oh Daddy come and get me and take me home with you." Her voice once again filled his mind as he envisioned her singing. "D-da-daddy." He said while taking her hand and tapping it against his chest. "Blaze, what are you talking about?" She asked as she pulled her hand out of his grip.

"Momma." He said more confidently while tapping her chest. "Daddy." He once again forced her to tap his chest. "Momma and Daddy?" He nodded his head, even though he knows she can't see it. "No, Blaze that's not possible. That bastard was right!" She cursed. Blaze looked at her with confusion, not understanding why she was so mad about being pregnant.

"M-mad?" He asked cautiously, afraid that she was unhappy about carrying his pup. "I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at The Judge." Songbird slowly peeled Blaze's hand from hers before sitting down in the nest. Blaze followed her, his wolf side wanting to hold her and growl sweet nothings in her ear. Blaze picked her up with ease and set her between his legs. She leaned back, enjoying the feel of him holding her. (Thank you mate bond.)

You're carrying our pup. This is amazing! We're going to be parents. Blaze whispered in his native tongue as he rested both hands on her belly. "A baby. I'm having a baby, at eighteen. This is not how I thought my life would go. Then again, anything is better than living with mother." She told him as he started to rub circles on her belly with his thumbs.
